What's the big deal ? I always put my lights on during the day. Greatly reduces chance of a head on crash from texters, day dreamers and drunks.

Have anyone had the DRL's disabled on a 996?

There is data that drivers running headlights during the day have 30% fewer MVAs. This may be why this default setting was chosen. When photographing cars racing it makes them pop to have the headlights on during the day. It really looks better. I shoot a lot and talk with pro photogs.
