Yeah the Mac is super fast on the straights. I think it has the GT3's number. Some reviews had GT3 slightly edging 12C on technical tracks, but that's a 650S.

But which sounds better? And which would you rather drive?

Haha, that’s me <sorry guys>. Footnote: these were warm up laps right after the car was sitting for a while and the tires were @ 20-22 psi. It took 2 laps just to get them up to temps. The GT3 is fast (2nd fastest car there on Monday), but no match for the 12C on the straights (not even close). My buddy was also running Hoosiers so he had me on this day. On equal tires (and on a tighter track) it could be a different outcome.

And, if you wanted the power to drag race the McClaren down the straights, you still have an extra 100k to buy a Corvette too!

That was awesome. Against a comparable or better driver, I wasn't able to keep up with the McLaren at the local track recently. They are fast as hell but he never was able to go more than a few laps before his transmission overheated or leaked. In the winter, he went into limp mode a few times for other reasons. Soooo, the GT3 is a better car, IMO.
Also, considering FI and ignoring 2 extra cylinders, I think the 12c should be compared to the GT2 RS not the GT3.

I correct myself! - it's not a 650S it's a 12C. Lights threw me from a distance!

Jay it is Fantastic! The handling once tuned at EU Autowerks, is like a go cart on rails.
It will be Very interesting once both cars are on the same tire....

Not sure why I was under the mistaken belief that the mclaren was a well-built car... Transmission leak and overheating sound pretty scary... Are they not well suited to the track?

I don't know. I have seen several on the track but most drive like grandmas. The only one I know who drives his like a bat out of hell, had the issues. Hard to tell, anecdotal evidence and maybe other cars are just fine.

Short clip from the wall taken with my slightly better camera.
Sound is better than expected, despite the excessive wind.
