Will RS have red ribbons as door handles?
Ok, I am interested as to where (based on past history) the weight savings will occur on the RS vs the current gt3? Will ribbons need to be pulled instead of normal door handles that you see on gt3, plastic used instead of glass any where? Which areas have the traditional diets occurred in and how? Where exactly is the stripping down expected vs the 991 gt3?

I'm sure it will have strap door pulls. This is pure window dressing, the weight savings is negligible.
More likely there will be weight savings from thinner/less insulation/carpet, and possibly lightweight materials for the hood/roof. Titanium for part of/the whole exhaust would be a safe assumption.
Tossing the motorized sofa seats (in US market anyway) for some manual buckets could save a lot of weight.

More likely to also have just the painted Porsche crest on the hood.

Thanks for reminding me of this. Things I should have already known and probably did, but had forgotten. This strip down drama at least for me makes the RS a track only car, rather than a dual purpose car like the gt3. I wish they would just add 30-50 hp on the the regular gt3 and call it the RS rather than putting things like strap door pulls that don't make any real difference. Perhaps that car will be called the 991.2 GT3.

Where did the strap idea really originate? Weight savings aside, especially since we're talking mere ounces, did the engineers just want to add another element to make the RS different than its regular cousin? Did the 996 have straps?

67 911 R I believe was the first with pull straps

Remember, it gets weighed in lightest possible spec.
