GT3 RS - the waiting begins
Hey everyone,
I called the Porsche dealership today and they were out of 2015 GT3 allocations... SO... I instead put a deposit down on a 991 GT3 RS. I'm 8th on the list so hopefully I don't have to wait forever (maybe 2 years?!) In the time being, I plan on driving my GTS non-stop until I get delivery but I'm wondering if I am patient enough to wait or end up buying a used GT3 in the meantime haha! First world problems I guess...

So... your primary reason for buying a GT3 RS is because it's louder!

I'm just being silly but really make sure the dealer can deliver. You may just have lent them money for nothing!

Naa, I want the GT3 RS for many reasons. I'm just trying to find new excuses to buy it! Haha!
I'm good friends with the Sales Manager and there was no laughing.. he thinks I should go for the RS as well based on what I like.
I drove the 997.2 RS and loved it but felt the clutch was a bit much to deal with all the time. The PDK should help.

It's very likely you are not gonna get it delivered till 2016, and most likely this RS is one-year production car. I was 1st on the local dealership. My friend that put a deposit last week was 6th on the list. But my dealership is not even the largest dealership in Toronto, so I guess at least 30 people waiting in Ontario, it's a lot...

Actually I highly doubt any of you will get them. The 918 customers will get offered the cars first as part of the VIP program and whatever is left will get pushed out to dealers. In the US there are 300 918 customers so if all take it there wont be any left for non 918 customers. This is the VIP program that has been put in place on all limited production cars.

This is incorrect information, with all due respect. As has been mentioned here numerous times, 918 owners do get their cars of choice and their cars do not take away any allocations from dealerships. If the dealer is allocated, say, two RS cars but they sold 3 918s whose owners also want RSs (not a likely scenario), they will sell five RS cars.
This is correct as I have posted, 918 owners just add to the existing orders. The chance of you getting an RS being 8th on the list is less than 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001%

A lot of people I think will pass on this car once it is announced, I think people will have an opportunity to buy this car because the regular GT3 will be so much more road friendly in comparison. If rumors hold to be true of course. If the RS is truly track focused and hardcore, people will dropout on line especially if guys are trading in their GT3s for the RS. At least this is my hope!

If that's the case would Porsche leave potentially up to 418 of its best customers upset that they couldn't get a car? Or will they be forced to offer AT LEAST 918 of any limited edition car for the forseeable future? To say nothing of the regular customers who might like to buy a car from them...
How many 997 variants were < 918 units?
4.0 RS
GT2 RS
Speedster
Sport Classic
Others?
