Do not want to high jack a GT3 forum but the potential Cayman GT4 has been a hot topic.
My first question is how real is this and are their articles that are definitively acknowledging this model with PAG adding confirmation?
yes - who would not have an interest if this is for real

I know the GT4 is exciting to many, but not to me. It just seems that Porsche is not doing a great job of protecting the 911 tradition. But perhaps I'm alone on this one.

My Spyder was fun, but I am ready for serious mid-engined Porsche.

Your lemonade has been watered down. No way will they protect the base 911 (your tradition implication - expanded ) from the 981 onslaught. It already happened with the 981 GTS version when compared to the 991 base. Unless you want to claim the 5 hp 991 advantage which will disappear in the tolerance band.

Yes the 911 is now a larger GT car, and getting progressively more comfortable. On the topic of how the cars drive, however, I don't know that the 911 needs protection. Sure the Cayman transitions and responds like only a mid engine car can, but when you push them both to the point where there sliding around there's little question who the daddy is. I'd say the 911 needs less protection, not more. Let's see what the Cayman can do with some proper kinematics...
I love Porsches of all shapes and sizes, from the 356 on up, for all their wonderful traits and quirks. However it's the ones they water down the least that I seem to love the most. GTs are great and certainly have their place, but here's hoping they lose the hose for more of their future sports cars.

Sacred cows are meant to be eaten. Does any truly bemoan that fact that Porsche no longer makes a 356?

I'd love to see one of the magazines do a same day track comparo of a 991 vs a 981 GTS, same day, same track, same tire compound on both cars in OEM sizes, same top-level pro driving both cars.
