Default Sports Chrono worth $1,850?

Ok, so my 2015 build locks very soon so I'm scrutinizing all of my options. Since I got a fresh allocation and was not bumped from a 2014 I do not get Sports Chrono at $400 like the Cat C folks. Yup, I have to pony up the full $1,800 for it. If it adds value or is a must-have option at resale time then I don't mind paying for it. If its an option that provides little use and adds to negative equity then I'm not so sure I need it. If I decide to track the car I assume I would go with a system that has integrated video, right? That seems to be the biggest knock from what I read.

Has anyone had time to play with SC to determine if it adds value? Any feedback would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave

The only reason I included it in my 2015 because of Porsche coming up with the difference resulting in a cost of only $400. I would not pay the full amount. Use the money on other options.

Lodi, I too would have to stump up the $1800 to get SC. Based on the fact that there are no performance enhancements, I've decided not to get SC. The other reason is that there are better timing devices out there for less. The cost just doesn't justify getting it.

They are including a track software with possibly a GPS system.

True, but boy is it pricey! I wonder what the cost of an equivalent third party solution would be?

I use Aim Solo for lap time.
But I do want the clock on dash.
1850 hard to decide.

It's not even a question. The clock is ugly. I wish mine didn't have it, but I didn't order the car.

Thanks S.
It's funny but when the clock on dash, the "wart" was mandatory, folks would complain about how ugly and useless it was!
Crazy thing is that I too would actually quite want it.... but it just doesn't make sense. I know what.... I'll add to my justification of not having it is its extra weight!

I saw a GT3 today at Hennessy Porsche that did not have it. It actually looked pretty good without it. Thinking I'll pass. If it had video like the Vette it would be nice to have it all integrated, but that's one expensive clock! Thanks guys!

Nope passed on it was not 1800, and I ordered red gauges which adds another 500 because of the red gauage. I have it in my 991S, and I have not used it once. Also I don't buy options for resale I think it's a loose loose optio. Buy what you want that you will enjoy has been my philosophy. Good luck, I'm happy my order locked no my choices(:

It's a bargain compared to $365 for a painted key. WTF?
