Congrats on your beautiful car. You made the right choice to start with a gt3! I bought my first porsche over 10 years ago. A 996gt3 Mk1. Never looked back! Now I can't wait to drive the 991rs!!!!!

We were through there briefly on one of our trips to England about 15 years ago. It looked very familiar but to be honest I had to enlist the help of my Anglophile wife to remember exactly where it was. I'm sure the prize will be all the incentive she needs to plan another trip!

Are you guys sure? That looks like a mining camp up by Garlock California. Its where they had the gold stamps. The only thing throwing me off is the water. The nearest Sea is 300 miles away. I just had my eyes checked in 1985

I'm at over 1000 km now. That's it, I'm going to start going full revs soon.
I've only gone above 7000 rpm on brief moments, but it's such a blur because things happen so quickly......all I can say is this car is VERY FAST. Speed limits are passed in a blink of an eye. And I still haven't consistently taken it to the 9000 rpm limit yet!
I'm so happy with this car. It delivers a totally different driving experience compared to my other cars. It's probably the combination of that engine, the super fast shifting transmission, and the sound that all contribute the driving sensation. There is a special sense of occasion that I have not experienced in any of my other cars.
I can't wait to experience this car on the track.......I'm aiming to do a track day this fall.
Complaints about the car?.......It's mighty low and I have to be very slow and careful going on speedbumps and certain inclines. I have the front axle lifter, but it's still a concern. The standard audio system is not that great, but to be honest, I'm more interested in hearing that mighty engine and exhaust when I'm driving. And I wish I could have ordered rear seats.......I know that it will be heavier, but the performance of this thing is already so insane.......even with the cramped 911 rear seats, it means I could take my wife and 2 kids in the car at the same time to share in the enjoyment.......now I can only take them one at a time.
Just took some pics today in 11am sunshine to show you how Amaranth red looks like in the sun. The car is dirty as I've driven in rain, so no close-ups...haha.

Took my GT3 to Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (formerly known as Mosport) last week for a track day. I've posted 2 videos in the "991 track video thread".
As I mentioned in that other post, the car is everything I hoped for and more. As a 1st time P-car owner, my perspective is that it is absolutely the best car I have ever owned and driven on the track. I look forward to many years of learning and driving enjoyment.
Here are a couple of pics. I'm loving my metallic Amaranth red colour more and more.......a more subtle and darker shade of red than the more popular Guards red. Overcast skies makes the colour look different than in bright sunlight.

I'm loving this car more and more. It's awesome on track, and still delivers a "sense of occasion" to me when I drive it on the streets.
Just drove it over 200km today as part of a commute from Toronto to Hamilton and then back to Toronto. Fine highway cruiser, and sitting in stop and go traffic was very bearable too.......the standard seats are pretty comfortable for me.
Here is a recent pic from a couple of weeks ago in the morning sun. This Amaranth red colour does look different depending on the type and brightness of light shining on it.
