Once the oil level registers on the electronic gauge I wouldn't add any more than one to two tenths of a quart at a time. Just my $.02.
Yes, that's good advice. The key point I wanted to make though was not to trust the oil meter after hard driving!

Most modern cars, the engines are good to go almost from the start. It's the differential, transmission, and other stuff that needs to seat together and break-in that is the real reason for a "break-in interval."

Typically 500 miles or less and everything is good to go at the absolute latest. I think these extended break-in periods beyond something like 500 miles is a calculated attempt to get the driver "up to speed" with the car and, more importantly for the manufacturer, to reduce warranty claims.

Think about it, you're using up 4% of your 50k warranty if you pansy-foot around in your GT3 for 2,000 miles. Screw that. Do a 500ish mile break-in with variable ground speed and engine rpm and multiple heat cycles and then drive it "flat out." Of course, ALWAYS get the engine and the rest of the car up to operating temp before driving "flat out" no matter the mileage, i.e. drive around easy for 5-10 minutes after each cold start.

That's a good point as well. I will take 2 or 3 measurements over a couple of days to make sure that the gauge isn't giving a false one-time reading before I think about adding oil.

I would just concerned if exceed the limits often during break in. If something broke, Porsche will read all the very high revs, and it may not honor the warranty.

250 miles - up to 7000 when engine nice and warm. I do not want to jinx any one but this engine can handle it. - It begs you to stretch its legs. I am very confident they got this all figured out

Man, turning off the radio and having the windows down is the way to break in the engine while listening to the engine talking to you. 460 miles and counting.

BTW, I get the car hot and when I park it in the garage I don't hear the engine fan kicking in. Is that gone now? What about you guys?

No the fans are there but this car I am thinking needs less cooling - just my thought. But, I felt it was really hot the other day when I took her out for a bit and when I pulled her in the garage and shut her off I was almost certain the fans would go on. Nothing - Then 10 min later I was in the garage to throw out the kitchen garbage and the fan(rear deck) turned on for like 2 min.

Are there also fans up front by the radiator?

Jimmy, I took my car in and they already reported it to Porsche. It's been a week and the service guy was to make another phone call to see what the feedback is from PCNA.
