Default Track Tools

Shopping for track tools (need the break-in miles really). I have everything for the M3 platform, however, I already see my torque wrench won't work. What are the essentials for the GT3, and where is the best place in OC to purchase?

You need Texas oil money to afford that Snap On torque wrench

Most of us do fine with this one: http://www.tooltopia.com/precision-i...s-c4d600f.aspx

You'll also want a brake pedal depressor unless you can always count on someone to stand on your brake pedal while you mount/dismount wheels.

And you'll probably want an alignment guide if you're running PCCBs: http://www.3rauto.com/parts/3r_parts/

Do you have a suggestion for a brake pedal depressor? That might be nice even for my existing 991, and the wheel tends to spin a lot when I'm reattaching it.

Sorry, don't have one. Don't need em on the Cup; just fire away with the air gun

I'm sure others who use them can chime in or you can ask over on the 997 GT3 forum. I've seen all kinds used from truck brake depressors to large wood clamps from Home Depot (like this: http://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-24...3186/204988147).

Total PITA if you ask me but not much you can do if you're on your own.

beat me to it, A truck brake pedal depressor works great to hold the hubs in place while you torque the CL nut. When you swap pads it's a real pita to torque the nut, since you will most likely need a person to push the brake pedal and start the car so they can get enough pressure. New pads have zero bite.

This was the compressor I used and still have.

I use this depressor, same as what my dealership uses. i think one still needs a passenger to hold the steering wheel since it does not lock and unless one is in the correct angle, the wheel keeps turning.

I use the clamp in Nizer's link. Turned around as a spreader....it works really good.

Don't forget a bunch of rubber gloves - that grease stuff is nasty. And then some hand cleaner to get it off.

Wouldn't hurt to have another vehicle - need a way home if a wheel falls off. (or was that just the last generation?)

Very good points, and gets all over clothes too.

Is a 5-lug conversion possible for the 991 GT3s?
