I'm curious if we now the total production numbers for the 2014 model year? I know 785 had been delivered by 2/14, but how many ordered hadn't been delivered yet? Seems it was a very low volume.

US only correct?

The numbers indicate to me that since 'sales' have resumed in July and that they are not part of the 139 previously sold number, that there have been 139 + 33 engine replacements and sales through the end of July.

So that's good. The techs from Germany at the San Diego port have now had plenty of experience with the engine R&R before dropping the motor in my car, set to arrive at port tomorrow.

OT but has anyone actually substantiated this? It keeps getting discussed as a fact that German techs are doing the swaps. With engine swaps being relatively easy, has anyone confirmed, for a fact, that Germans are doing this, not US techs?

Mine was a December sale and I know of at least two more who got their cars in December. Do you think we are included in the January numbers or are those missing?

Ian told me verbally that techs from Germany were at the ports to perform the swaps...but, like most things so far in the process, nothing in writing.

Frayed,still worried about the swap?
It's easy,me and you together could do it with some guidance and having all the tools. Most important : a lift and a drivetrain hoist.

Porsche did not want to pay the dealers to do the swap. They brought people on their payroll to do the exchanges.

I was also told that the Motorsport group was somewhat shorthanded because a number of their guys had been tapped for the engine replacement work.

I did hear that some Master Mechanics from various US Dealerships would be invited to help. But, the German techs are there performing and overseeing every aspect of the engine replacement. I am more than 100% confident and comfortable with all of this. I was even comfortable with my dealership performing the replacement but I am glad it is happening at the Port where it can be controlled and they have the best Mechanics/Engineers performing the surgery

If there are only 177 Gt3s to date sold in the US that is about right. My Dealership originally told me last year there would be slightly less than 400 GT3s allocated for 2014 to the US market place.- That was before the "stop sale" but, rest assured, if you are lucky to own one of these it will be an exclusive group

Naw. I'm actually not worried at all. Just a backhanded jab at those w/ their engine swapped cars like macca and sam and mike cause they've been out enjoying their cars while the rest of us are left reading rennlist. LOL

I have been told that the 785 quoted was the total number of 991 GT3 that had been MANUFACTURED up until that date(not sold - and included, demon, PAG company cars and production protos). It also included all cars under construction or that had an type of V code in the PAG build system so includes all cars manufactured AFTER the Feb stop sale right up to the April stop production call.

If you consider less than 200 have now been sold/delivered/registered to customers in USA and the UK was a fraction under 100 units then these two large markets account for only 300 of the 785 units.

What I have been lead to believe is that there will never be more than 785 units produced for MY2014. Essentially no car will roll off the production line since the March/April 20154 period with a MY14 VIN.

So 785 units total for MY2014 which includes units held back and never delivered from markets such as China, plus press and demo/dealer and PAG employee cars. probably around 700 units in reality that will be delivered to customers.

It is currently summer holidays in Germany. Production will resume in Sept/Oct for MY2015 991 GT3 to complete postponed or cancelled 2014 orders and to meet the commitments made to MY2014 owners that were in the system for July production or a production date between April and August 2014. My guess would be another 4-500 units.

I think PAG will make a call in September as to whether 991 GT3 production will continue beyond October or if they will direct all resourced to 991 GT3RS production which I have been told will start in Oct/Nov (LHD cars first).

If PAG were smart they would stop production of 991 GT3 at 1300 units in October, announce it and put the latent demand into teh more expensive and margin rich 991 GT3RS (they could quite easily build 2000 of these this time around if they wish with the additional production slots left form the 991 GT3).

991 GT3 production will go down in PAG history as the biggest series production loss maker since the 959. Perhaps 1300 units in total with an additional capex of around 40-50 Million$ and compensation/dealer payments etc to exceed that! Essentially at 1300 units they loose around 12-15,000 Euro per car!
