Default What We Need

Maybe I should say some of us need. How about this?

A street version of the Cup car. Since it's using a 6 speed with paddles. Scrap the paddles, and give us a shift lever. Leave the 18' wheel of course.

It will be for the hard core track fans who don't want to tow a car to the track.

Yes, I know. Just dreaming.

How could I make a Cup car street legal? Can it be done? I don't need a smog check where I live.

It seems 991 GT3RS is basically giving you a street legal cup car.

I'll get myself in more trouble if I disagree.

Nothing at all, but i'm already towing a formula car. I'd prefer to drive the Porsche, because there's some beautiful mountain roads on the way to the track.

I let my buddy drive the tow rig.

Easy. Buy street 991 GT3 and 991 Cup, new or used your choice. Mix and match parts you want. Replace paddles with traditional shifter and you're done. Now you have street Cup with legal vin, Mezger motor, and traditional shifter. Any competent Porsche shop could do it. As Mooty says, all it takes is an open checkbook.

Looking forward to your build.

take a 997GT3 wreck and a 997 Cup tub and build a street engine/tranny cup car with VIN/titled carried over from wreck.

It would make a modern day outlaw street car and a decent D.E car but not a competitive race car.

The more I thought about it. The more it seemed like a silly idea. I don't need a Cup car for the street. Club racing a Cup would require trailering it to the track.

I have the formula car to race. An RS makes more sense for a street car, and more than enough for tracking. I'll just have to adjust to the PDK.

Thanks for your thoughts guys.

Which is what I said before... Porsche is one step ahead of you with the GT3RS variant
