Yup, or sooner, if the tires stick.

It is, I was surprised how kinda loud sounding cars pass (mine) and others would not.
A complete stock RS will pass, one some days with low clouds they need to keep valves closed.

Awesome track, but government run and the neighbors moving in after the track was built and complain should all be tortured and shot.
Sad.

I think taller sidewall might have helped or sidewall like in AD08R - they are pretty much run-flats.
Glad you avoided worse damage. Similar thing happened to me a couple of years ago at New Jersey Motorsports Park when I took Lightning's T5 a bit too early--I ran wide on exit, hit the start of the track-out curbing with my left front tire, and upset the car, sending me toward the inside wall. Luckily I just missed it, and the Corvettes behind me slowed and avoided me. I was running my 2011 M3 sedan at the time, with relatively chunky 275/35-18 Nitto NT01s in a square setup. No damage to the tires with the hit.
I'm now running 19" Yoko AD08Rs on my 991S as track and street tires, and I can attest to your description of their tough sidewalls--I hit a really big, sharp frost heave coming out of the Tappan Zee bridge tolls at around 50mph on the way home from Watkins Glen the other day, and it felt like my front tires should have exploded. Luckily they were fine.
Here's a clip of the NJMP curbing incident. Action around 1:06:

Yes, very similar impact. I had the steering wheel straight, so the car did not spin but rather just pulled towards the broken tire a bit.

By the way, I think I remember your nickname from m3post - it's funny how many migrated from there to rennlist. BMW is not doing a good job keeping enthusiasts with the brand.

Default Suggestion

Guys-

I say this very humbly being that I'm probably the biggest neophyte of all on these threads tracking a rear wheel, 911. (Ran GT-R's for past 4 years).

Since the recall, I've had several months seat time in a 2014 Cayman S, then back to my GT3 two weeks ago.

First time on track, I spun by simply "lifting" when I felt the car starting to slide. Wrong thing to do.

Next time, same place I started to slide and I MASHED the gas pedal...

These GT3's are amazing.

Does a stock GT3 exceed the 90db sound limit? Also did someone explain that the sound measurements are taken at turn 5 so you could go easy on the throttle in that area.

If I don't use the "exhaust button", will I still get black flagged? My stock 997.2 without the Sports on was able to pass through the microphone without getting a black flag.

I'm planning to take my car on August 23rd and 24th. I would be super disappointed to drive 5 hours and get kicked off after 1st session.

You will be disappointed. You will get kicked off.

The button will do nothing.
