Spec regrets

We all have these. I changed my mind a hundred times before the order. I nearly wore the configurator out. But with the delay I think it's even worse than normal. More time to change your mind!

My question is, once you've ordered the car, what options are possible to change? I don't expect to be able to change any before it ships but I think some options can be retrofitted. Anybody know?

My biggest regrets are not ordering:

- DAB radio (UK)
- PCCBs
- Online services? (Wasn't even an option when I ordered it)

If those are your regrets I would stop worrying. Sure, we all wish we could go back and give a tweak here and a tweak there on some upgrades but time to move on. Even if you added those you will still find something. Let sleeping dogs lay enjoy it when it arrives and never look back. There is no perfect build.

I agree with Jimmy--but, since I'm still a couple of weeks away from delivery and have time to kill, here's my list:

Wish I didn't order:
-- Extended leather door panels -- it's adds nothing and I ordered it before being active on RL and before I realized what it was (or wasn't).

Wish I did order:
-- Washer nozzles painted in exterior color -- at first I thought that would be $295 for 2 tiny dabs of paint (which it is), but for some reason the chrome really stands out to me now.
-- Extended leather dash -- after seeing it in person, it really makes a visual impact.

But, other than that, no regrets and I'm sure when it arrives I will forgot about even these small OCD driven details.

I did the door panels too but better to regret something you did than you did not.

No biggy on the nozzles. I did order them same color as car but they really do not stand out in chrome. My red loaner has he Chrome nozzles and it looks in. Especially if you have a white car because it contrasts even less.

As for the extended leather dash. That is nice addition but some argue that it is just a little too much.

You did fine. Pus if you did put you money in to the PCCBs the there is only so far you can go

Yep--I did get the PCCBs and you're right, once that box was checked, I started to be more restrained elsewhere.

You too?

Went with the standard so dumped over $20,000 in all the carbon fiber, red stitching, LEDs and even had the stupid keys painted the color of my car. I have not looked at my order sheet since the beginning of the year so going to pull it up now

Only PCCBs b/c of less dust and initial bite and bling.

Ok, I'll save you all a ton of money. Just press the pedal a little harder with the steel brakes.

Seriously.

Spoken like coming from someone who never owned a car with PCCBs.

Holy crap! Nice build, Jim.

Jimmy-D 07-22-2014 01:01 PM

Thanks - I just looked at it and forgot some of the things I ordered. I do not track any cars so I really focused on making it my weekend warrior. It is nice to build a car from scratch the way I wanted it. I did flirt with the PCCBs and some other builds but the Standard brakes allowed me to really spruce up the interior the way I wanted. I love carbon fiber ad contrasting stitching so I went full monty.

Bacura 07-22-2014 01:08 PM

Odd. I got PCCB because I DON'T track. I would have taken the steels if I did track the car. I'm backwards.
