So, in my quest to find a decent used GT3 I found another one About 20k miles. The dealer prints this out for me from the cars computer:
"Number of ignitions at speed...max. speed range 1...34"
"Operating hours counter racing at overspeed , range 1...262.7"

No other readings

So, this doesn't sound good Too Many track hours"

Can someone help? Thanks

I would try to understand what those 262 hrs mean exactly. Assuming each track hr is 60 miles (96 Km), this calculates to over 15,000 miles (over 25,000 Km), which would be incorrect.

Edit: your numbers are already in miles, sorry. I still think 15,000 track miles in such a short period to be hard to digest.

I've told that the "262.7" is the time on the engine that the 34 ignition hits happened. Not mileage

That's a good dme report. None of this means the car actually has 15,000 track miles on it, although I guess it's possible.

You want the print out to be a full one, showing a recent date/time, the VIN and other info show you know it came from the car you think it came from. While I would not believe a dealer would intentionally misrepresent a car this way why not be as sure as you can be?

The print out should also show total engine run time in hours and decimal hours and all over rev range counters and the numbers for each along with an engine run time stamp which is the engine run time of the last recorded event.

Once you have this and are comfortable the car is ok, based on this and your check out and that of a PPI then you need to act quickly. The risk is if you wait a week or two someone else comes along and test drives the car and over revs the heck out of the engine and you end up buying it those over revs.

As I understand it, 34 overrevs is likely indicative of just one instance of hitting the rev limiter at hour 262.7 and all 34 overrevs probably occurred in less than 1/2 a second. Over revs in range 1 are rarely a concern. For range 1, 34 is actually low. I think that the car was babied.

I have thought more about this. Has this car had its engine replaced already? If so, what will matter is how many miles since the new engine which obviously will not be 20,000. Plus I would assume that when a new engine is put in, this data would reset but maybe not. If the data refers to the old engine which is awaiting replacement, then the concern about the engine wear is non existent and you only have to think about the PDK at 20K miles. I would ask the dealership about what that report means exactly. High mileage for a brand new car regardless.

Now the question is whether or not it makes sense for me from a colectibily sense. I know it drives great. Now I have to decide do I buy a 5 year old speciality car or go thru with the purchase of the 2015 C2 that's being built! Tough decesions.
