lol.....good one Alex. I wonder if the macpherson strut design limits the amount of extension that's possible.....

Nice video.

Techart offered a system on the 997 that lifted the car nearly 2.5inches

My 2007 Mercedes CL600 with Active Body Control suspension could raise the front by 45 millimeters at the touch of a button. It also lowered the body automatically at high speeds by ten millimeters to reduce wind resistance & fuel consumption. But each system is designed for the specific vehicle height, overhang, etc. So straight comparisons don't necessarily tell you everything you need to know as to how high it's needed to do its model-specific job.

For general information, I inquired of David Donohue, the new 918 Client Relations Manager about the weight of the lift option on that model. The response he got back from Germany was 7 kg or about 15.43 pounds! Again, 7 kg for the 918 lift kit, not that of the 991 gt3's. So about the same weight for the gt3 lift system would sound about right!

Again, Bart, thanks for the interesting gt3 lift video! We were fascinated by the first one you did on the gt3's innovative 'Rear Axle Steering' and commend you also on this quality visual production!

Thanks!

Information on the GT3 lift system is not easy to come by, however I did find a technical article about the 997 Lift system. Find it here

http://www.atzonline.com/Article/119...e-997-GT3.html

The article states that the system weight 6kg. Visually the lift system seems very similar, however we've clocked the lift at under 2 seconds while the article states that it takes 4 seconds.

Looking at a 997 lift video it does appear to be slower.

I have to say that Porsche is the company that it is today only because of the enthusiasts that have gathered under the same name. They do tend to forget that once in a while...

Many congrats to this particular enthusiast for taking the time to do this!
