Just one quick Question. Possible to get 500 BHP out of ECU Tune?

I believe you can get to 500 hp on the 991 Gt3. Probably cost you about $6000 to change out most of the whole exhaust, cats ect.
But - I would have reservations doing so. Being that this engine has been pushed far enough why take a chance to kill your 5 year warranty, ~$6000, potential issues ect.. Easy to do on a Turbo though

I'm just wondering if it can be with the ECU alone? Leave everything else stock and change the fuel mappings to achieve 500 horsies.
If you think about it Porsche put a lot more power under the hood between the last regular GT3 (435) over, 997.2, and today (475) with the 991 GT3. Both are 3.8 Liters but I keep asking myself what changed so much where they could up the ante by 40 BHP? That is a good jump in power and is this 9A1 motor that much better than dare I say... Or not utter the word....

Why would you let someone flash your ECU with a different progam? They would have almost no experience with a GT3 engine. What kind of performance boost do you think you would see going from 475 to 500? Also, do you believe their claims? I wouldn't. With all the recent GT3 engine issues you would have to be out of your mind to let someone do this to your car. Maybe change your exhaust.....anything more is insane.

For one I simply asked a question. Can you take the power up to 500 BHP with an ECU tune? That is all I asked - never said I was ever going to do anything.
Two many people reflash their ECUs all the time to get more power out of the engine, its a fact of life.
Third, we are all aware of the issues with the original engine and subsequent engine swaps, but does that mean everyone will start treating the GT3s engine with "Kitten Mittens"? Hell no, if you cannot modify the internals of the new 991 GT3 engine then Porsche has lost all of its integrity.
Fourth, and ultimately to get the biggest bang for your aftermarket buck, new exhaust, new this, new that - to get everything to work properly together will be to get a custom ECU tune to each specific modification.
Now again let me pose my simple question to the proper tuners, like I said before GIAC and Sharky, and I'm sure there are a few other trustworthy shops out there.
Can the 991 GT3 engine output 500 BHP with just an ECU tune?
Now I'm going to take the time to put someone back into my ignore list. I suggest he does the same.

Technically I'm not sure what the state of play is re the ability to program the new ECU. All 991, Boxster, Cayman, etc street cars share the same ECU, and I believe that the 991 GT3 is the same.
That ECU is heavily encrypted, and I'm not sure anyone has fully cracked it yet- remember that the Boxster S and base 991 Carrera share the same motor with a 35 hp difference due to tuning. However as far as I'm aware no one is offering a +35 hp flash (not piggyback) for Boxsters, so I think the encryption remains uncracked so far. Until that happens the answer is no, no chance.
After that happens then there is one way I expect they'll be able to unlock near 25 hp without hardware changes, and that's to re tune the car for ~100 octane race gas. My previous experience with normally aspirated Porsche motors has seen 3% to 4% gains going from regular gas to 100. 4% would move the 991 GT3 to 494 hp. Any similar gain without hardware changes and I'd be very suspicious, either that the gain isn't real or that safety margin is cut more than I'd be comfortable with, assuming Porsche didn't intentionally leave anything on the table, which I suspect for the 991 GT3 they did not.
Of course there is a good chance the car is ~15 hp underrated from the factory to begin with...

^ Yes. And if you recall it is highly sophisticated and developed differently just for the GT3 engine. I would not screw with any of this. I think if you play with the exhaust, cats - you are fine but s I stated earlier, I would not screw with remapping this baby. For the minimal mains you are risking a lot. And I am all for tuning your cars properly
I remember back in Jan/Feb there was a guy from Dubai who blew his 991 GT3 engine on a remap. I believe he had to pay for the new engine himself. Do not worry. some tuner in the next 60 days will crack the encryption but remapping NA engines have minimal gains. Yes, I know, combined with other upgrades you can get a lot more out of it, but...

I would never screw around with a new normally aspirated Porsche motor - just keep your warranty and forget about any potential tiny gains that you would never be able to feel anyways.
