Sam what was your best lap time at COTA?

Awesome video Sam. Thanks for sharing. The GT3 really gets moving at COTA.

Lucky you for getting to drive that track. I really like the video angle perspective, I don't like the excessive wind buffeting coming through the microphone. Is there an external mic Jack on your video recorder ? If so, you might get better sound getting an external mic and affixing it on top of the motor by the carpeted rear shelf with a foam wind screen on the mic. I think you will get better motor sounds without the wind buffet rumble. If it's a go pro you can use this adapter to plug a small external mic into the audio which will mute the built in mic picking up all the wind noise.

Thats a great visual and how I have all my in car set up. Alot of specialised systems say you need 60 degree POV inside a close roof car I think thats rubbish and 120 works better (if you are using GoPro with medium setting like I think then you are effectively 115). Mounted to the half cage I get the same perspective and allows me to see steering angle as well as view through side windows which I feel adds some drama to the footage (at least in a car like my 993 where the GT3s regularly overtake you LOL!).

2:29:22. I think I can extract another second as I get more comfortable with turns 10 and 19.

Thanks. It really does. The car is incredibly well balanced and all my issues with prior understeer were track specific, not car specific. The car is awe-some.

I feel lucky for getting to run it. I enjoyed so much that I will sign up for Chin's event late January. I have the adapter and mic extension. I found it a pain to route it all the way to the outside, above the exhaust but will try your recommendation next time.

Yes, medium setting on the GoPro so I agree with you. I need it to see my hands later.

Sam, great video! COTA seems like a very complex track. A lot of line interpretations out there. Hope to drive it some day.

Was it me, the camera, or did the carbon-fiber interior bits have a brownish hue to them? They almost looked like wood panels at some angles.

COTA was difficult for me to learn, it took all 4 sessions Saturday to be able to comfortably get it Sunday (when I took video). My CF is a CF/red kevlar weave, so that's why. They have a nice red hue to them.

Thanks Sam! Awesome video!
It's fun to see it from that perspective after going to the USGP and watching the Porsche Supercup race. Nice driving!

Just stumbled upon this picture of me driving Laguna Seca after a pretty big rain. A tiny bit of sideways action there:

And this is actually on track, even though I'm driving on dirt.

I know there is better grip on pavement to the right, but who needs grip on a straight.

What's that setup you are running for quieting the exhaust ? Custom built ? how does it attach to the pipes. Thanks in advance.

I would love to do this, since there is no way I can actually drive propely on that track after watching videos.

Thanks. Can't imagine the feeling the F1 drivers get as they go a whole minute faster.

Two things jumped out at me from the COTA video:

- Lots of slow 2nd gear corners.

- Car only briefly gets into 6th gear (close to 160 mph), otherwise 5th gear max. Not sure I'm going to see 7th gear on any tracks I go to.
