Latest Information on 2-valve, normally aspirated, air cooled engine: 442 HP and 442 Nm Torque – and this is without the newly designed camshafts which are still being hardened.

As to the 4-valve, normally aspirated, air cooled engine, design is well underway.

How much weight have you shed compared to a stock 3.6L? Can you give a rough estimate of the cost for the 2-valve version? Please PM me if you'd rather not publish.

I'd like to know the cost and weight loss as well, thanks.

Hi Robert,

Can you email me some details on this, we have some aircooled projects that we're working on and would love to collaborate on some of this with you. Is the 442HP/442NM on an engine dyno? (assume so).

Also what are you using for engine management?

Exciting stuff!

Yes, on the dyno -- and we will see if the new camshafts give us any more!

Engine management is Bosch -- and will be on the 4-valve.

Update: the specially camshafts came in wrong for the fourth time from one of the world's leading camshaft suppliers. Given this, they sent a messenger yesterday, Saturday, to pick them up and we expect them back by Tuesday. Assuming the fourth time is the charm, I expect the engine to be run with them by week's end. Nevertheless, work on the 4-valve engine continues.

Jeff Gamroth at Rothsport has a number of examples of air-cooled engines in the 400-450hp range.

I'll be interested to see how these engines compare when done.

Air-cooled horsepower in this range isn't cheap.

Jeff Gamroth builds fine engines but I believe he is focused on racing and, as such, his engines are intended to run on race gas.

New camshafts in. 443.5 HP. Disappointing to everyone. Engineers working on several ideas including yet another set of camshafts. Do not want to increase RPM above 7400 on this engine. Am sure, we will reach at least 445 HP nevertheless. 4-valve version should go above 8500.
