They're simply quoting Autocar's article. The internet is such a powerful rumor mill . The GT3 and GT3 RS are always designed at the same time. They do not design the GT3 then think how to make it more track focused. So the thinking that it is difficult to improve on the 911 GT3 is simply incorrect. The 991 GT3 RS will be a modified NA version of the GT3.

I would be amazed if there is any substance to this rumour. My info was that there is not a gigantic increase in power for the RS (maybe 25BHP), but that the effort was gone into lightness and downforce. The modest change in HP is fairly consistent with history...( zero for the RS.1 vs GT3, 25 or so RS.2 vs GT3, and only the 4.0 getting a bigger lift. I doubt if its a huge challenge to get a limited increase in BHP...

BMW makes no pure NA engines anymore. MB is almost done phasing out NA, as is Audi. Porsche is heading that way too. McLaren is there already. Ferrari is en route too.

As much as I like the NA GT3 motors I've owned.... I'm not sure a turbo charged track car from Porsche would be such a horrible thing. Does anyone remember the 959 or F40. Sure, I'd like to see whatever it is raced and proven and, sure, I'll miss the sound and character of the NA motors... but I will certainly reserve judgement until there is a car to be evaluated.

Until then, however, I'll stick with what I have:-)

I might be in the minority but if in fact they turbocharge the RS I am all for it! Remember the 993GT2?? It only makes sense IMO. McLaren did it and others will follow. GT racing is booming and a car like that fits perfect. While I like the N/A engine for raw speed and lap times Porsche needs to go turbo. Why not? Look in the past 930, 934, 935 etc.

If done right it could be the bees knees. I love my .2 RS but would never be opposed to a well set up turbo RS. We all know Porsche can pull it off..

ok, so here goes for the umpteenth time. THERE WILL NEVER BE A TURBOCHARGED GT3RS!!!! Why? Because the car was named after a class that it competed in. Turbocharging wasn't allowed in that class, the cars where Turbocharging was allowed was GT2. the 991 GT3RS will be NA. Now, that being said, the following RS may be turbo'd, however they wont be called GT3RS's. GT2 or GT2RS, maybe. Even possibly to pay homage to the original '73 and call it a Carrera RS, but no car that comes from the factory with a turbo will ever be called a GT3RS, it would be like calling a Sports Utility Vehicle a Roadster. It just doesn't fit and is wrong because they're not in the same classification. I like the thought of calling it a Carrera RS and bringing back the original style graphics similar to the '73 Carrera RS and what they later did with the 996 GT3RS and the 997.1 GT3RS. OK, rant done. Flame away if you must lol

WTF is wrong w/ Porsche. How dare they. Just drop in the 4.0 and take up the power to 525! Done.

and for the next gen drop in the 4.6L V8 from the 918. Done.

The RSR replaced the 993/996 GT2's in GT2 class. Why not replace the RSR and go back to Turbos and GT2 badge. I really think they should be called a GT2 RS if it has turbos.
