I think you could count the number of people that were able to drive before they ordered on one hand. Worldwide. Lots of people, me included, had deposits down many months before Porsche had even starting regular production of the GT3 - some over a year before.

Having never even been in a Porsche, let alone driven a 911, I took a 991 C4S for a test drive and ordered my GT3 pretty much straight after I got back to the dealer; I had already been on the configurator for many hours on many occasions and knew what I wanted.

Whilst some had the advantage of having owned, or at least driven, previous generations of 911s or GT3s, we were pretty much all in the same boat with the 991 GT3.
