Default AMG GT = GT3 competitor?

http://blog.caranddriver.com/what-do...-amg-gt-video/

Could be lightweight, same V8 Twin Turbo and transmission as the upcoming C63.. Might be worth looking at VS M3 depending on weight and new gearboxes.

Advertised as a half price SLS looking more hard core car, it is a 911 competitor, maybe even a GT3 competitor.

AMG GT Black series anyone?

Another fancy MB...I bet the price will be way north of 150$. It's more a GT car than a track minded car. Maybe a TTS competitor. Not a GT3. :/

Looks nice . Seems like more of Jaguar, Aston Martin fighter. I am not a huge fan of Mercedes styling and from the looks of the car it looks like a shortened SLS AMG car with normal doors. Not a huge fan and I am not a fan of engines up front for my sport cars.

I am sure it will be a very good car and will find its market. Also, my Wife has owned a couple Mercedes and she swears she will never buy another. Always quality issues so she sticks with BMW.(my wife buys her own cars so I stay out of it)

I think the GT3 is in a class of its own. No one cross-shops it with anything else in the same price range.

Mercedes doesn't make sports cars - not a single one. They make nice GTs.

I think the car to keep your eyes on is the upcoming baby McLaren. That just may be the first true GT3 competitor.

Looks depressing. Maybe when I'm 80. I'll stick w/ GT3 for now.

+1.

If they can really keep the price of that baby Mac in the same range of the r8 v10 and the Turbo/S...will be a serious contender.

Interesting to see all these high-end manufactures coming out with 911 price matched performance oriented autos...
Aston, McLaren and now Benz...
Good times we live in!

Not necessarily. I believe Porsche has been raising prices on the 911 to just below the competitors who notoriously overprice their cars. Those of us in the Porsche camp are paying the price as a result of the competition.
