I have a C4S and with the windows down, the buffeting gets bad around 85mph and un-drivable around 100mph+. On a track I either have to drive with the windows fully up, only one cracked 2-3 inches for point-passing, or the sunroof open. Does the GT3 suffer from the same buffeting, without a sunroof I'm guessing the only option is windows up...?

I have a 991 loaner and I find with BOTH windows all the way down it is fine. It’s just when only the driver window is down that all hell breaks loose.

I doubt the GT3 will be any better, or any car for that matter at high speeds. Windows are required to be down at track events here in norcal. Helmets are required too. Can you notice any buffeting with a helmet on?

Actually, the couple of times that I had a chance to briefly go over 100 the windows were up so can't say for sure. But in general my experience has been similar to 997TTMeteor's; with the passenger window down at least part way it relieves the buffeting from the driver's window being open. I'll have to try the GT3 with windows down when I get it back in service.

It's buffeting. Not as badly as C2S, but still does. Both windows down is Ok for the driver, but not perfect. One window down is painful. In fact, the peak is below 100MPH - something like 70MPH, but I'm not sure. One side-effect of buffeting is that most microphones do not work at all inside the car (for track vids). Change of air pressure is probably too much for them to deal with.

I'd very much prefer if they allowed us to drive with windows up, but it's not a big deal - both windows down is acceptable.

BTW, Joe, I've got to 2:06 at Thunderhill last weekend in an M3 with street tires, so when GT3 is driveable again, it's definitely going to be under 2 mins. Can't wait!!!

You have 991 loaner for your loss of use for the GT3? Did you take delivery of the GT3? I hadn't noticed any Canadian owners mentioning if they had received a loaner or not.

I will be at Sonoma on 24th as well. There is faint hope that I'll have the engine by that time.

One window down within a certain speed range is very unpleasant. Two windows down is fine, but with some minor buffeting that's not as bad for the driver (helmet or not).

Yep, loaner. My car has been @ Port since mid-February. Talk to your dealer about a loaner.

At the track in my C2S the buffeting is pretty horrible. At 140+ it alternately feels like your brain is being sucked out of your ears and nose or being compressed to the size of that of the engineer who let this happen.

I had read all these horror stories about the buffeting, so was expecting it to be bad at VIR. Even brought some clear tape to put between mirror and door in case it was unbearable.

Turns out, with both windows down, it really wasn't very bad at all. If it is less in GT3 due to sport design mirrors, it will not be a big deal.

(Oh, and I never taped the mirrors -- buffeting just wasn't bad enough to bother.)
