Do matte, or gloss blk rims while waiting for Engine
In the home stretch waiting for the engines.
-White car with stock platinum rims, but want black.
I like matte as it seems to look more urban-aggressive vs. suburban, IMHO.
-Service Manager was a little hesitant when I mentioned it... saying why do rims to a brand new car? e.g. people usually due the rims after nicks, or during a tire change -- Answer --- I just want black rims.. I don't care..
-I wanted the black rims from the options list but they only offered gloss, and I was dead set on matte at the time, so I didn't check the box.
-Please advise on Matte, vs. Gloss.
-Some thought Matte can be tougher to care for as they are sensitive to chemicals.. ----- Who knows?
-Will it hurt re-sale? Probably a moot point, after the engine issue anyways.
--- Have photo my mine being taken back to dealer.. then one with black rims for comparison.. Looks pretty good I think.

Ive seen both factory in person. I have the matt factory titanium coloured wheels and love them. That said if I was going black Id definitely only consider matt. the gloss IMO is too shiny and detracts from the lovely spoke design....

I think that the standard titanium, gloss, or matte all look good. But as soon as you get brake dust on all 3 colors they all will look like a matte black anyway. I think if you ordered standard and want matte just wait until you scuff up the standards a little bit and then get them finished in matte. It will not hurt the resale. I think you can get them done for like $150 a wheel.

Good points. I like how the platinum show the depth of the wheel, in more of a 3D sense. Yes.. I think the gloss hides this a bit. - re-enforces my matte vs. gloss.
--'Want it Now' vs waiting for tire change.. -- guessing tire change is 8k, which might be next summer considering the circumstances.
-- Hmm dealer made it sound like $1,300 USD as the major cost is shop time, taking off the tires, rubber, TPMS etc..
--But I think it will really add an emotional plus to the event of picking up the car with NEW ENGINE AND new MATTE BLACK rims.. I want to have my DAY back with all the emotion as AP discussed.. again..
-- Also might be the first one with matte black, as the only other black rims I've seen are factory gloss black, not that it matters, car is rare and unique enough as it is.. Probably never see one in streets of Chicago anyways. Only seen 2 GT3's in the 12 years I've been here. Probably be the ony one at Gibsons LOL

How come no one hS mentioned plasti dip yet? For a guy who is on the fence but thinks he wants Matt black this is perfect.
$20 and a few hrs of your time

There is some thing about the new GT3 rims that I think is special. Every color seems to just work. The standard titanium looks great, gloss, matte, and I even liked the silver painted factory ones' that one of the Ladies on the West coast ordered on her White GT3. I do not think you will go wrong either way.

thx.. Yes, I 'll try matte on 1 side, and gloss on the other.
I'll practice on my Touareg with the wheels on with the bag trick.. then if I can figure it out good, I'll just do it..
-- I know your suppose to take the wheels off, but it's just for a test..
--As long as I'm confident after playing with the Touareg wheels, I'll do it!
