Gallardo to replace a GT3
Okay, I know there is a thread about the McLaren but I would like to hear from folks that have had a Gallardo or still have one in their stable. Now, I do not track my cars. For me its about weekend enjoyment and stress relief going for my AM drives. I do not even consider a Gallardo a replacement to a GT3 but I love the styling and there are great deals out there especially with the Huracan replacing the Gallardo model. Let me know your pros and cons ect.

Jimmy my buddy has a 550-2 I put about 1000+ miles on the car myself. It's no gt3 equivalent but girls do throw their panties in the windows if they are open. The car is a circus with an amazing sound and presence. So that sums up the pros. Cons, horrible e gear transmission, dances all around the road If surface isn't perfectly smooth, cramped cabin, crappy ac and stereo. I'd tell you not to buy one but......the panties

Good info. This car has a gated manual so it has caught my eye. Just resisting the temptation with the GT3 fiasco so eye just wandering a little. I did test drive the 560-4 and the 550-2 the other day. Certainly prefer the 2 wheel drive. It just felt a little lighter and the steering was not numb like in the 560-4 - it was that noticeable.
But I do like the panties

About 40k of options thrown in
Alcantara everywhere
Track seats (which even if you don't track look amazing)
Can buy one new

Car feels great when conditions are great. I've been able to rip it through lonely countryside and the sound is very compelling but as you are purchasing a gt3 you are obviously a driver and I think the car will fall short of your expectations outside of boulevard cruising and drag racing. Interior is a s dated as an NSX which is kinda weird for a car in its 200th iteration.

Here is what I wrote in the McLaren thread when you brought up the Gallardo:
As for reliability, twin turbo kits putting out over 1,000hp are quite popular, so the drivetrain is robust. Regarding Cytek's criticism of being all over the road, I have had no such experience, but I have found them very sensitive to tire pressure, so be sure pressures are at the factory settings.
No panties thrown in the window yet, but I did call the wife last time I was filling it up to ask if I could bring home a couple of young strays. She said they had better be dogs. But they were not. Far from it.

I ordered a new RWD MT Gallardo last year when it was confirmed the GT3 would be PDK only. Fantastic car - engine is just amazing, with tons of torque down low, 8,500 RPM redline, and a sound to die for. Shifter has long-ish throws compared to a Porsche short shifter, but it is like butter. Steering is not as precise as that in a Porsche, but I like that it is a bit heavier, and understeer is surprisingly absent. Good ride/handling tradeoff, even without electronically controlled dampers. All analog, just the way I like it. And, of course, it is great to look at, especially through the plexi at that engine (lit up when the doors open - nice touch). But it is not for tall people, especially with the one-piece buckets (like the Porsche sport buckets, they seem to be mounted higher - unlike the Porsche sport buckets, I found them very uncomfortable).
Only criticisms are the brake pedal is a bit long and squishy, the trunk is useless, and every once in a while you are reminded by little things that it is an old design - no remote release for said useless trunk, no cruise control, no traffic on the archaic nav system, the rear view camera in a new Civic I rode in last week was infinitely better, to name a few. Obviously the Huracan will address those issues and more - but with more weight, for more money, and no analog interface. No thanks.
