Default too much time: 599 Fiorano to replace GT3?

my ED is now dead and with it probable delay into 2015 MY , having a MY2014 is making me pessimistic. As everyone is now debating a substitute, I'm looking at some very nice 599s. The 458 is much more money but a great car, Mclaren another choice again more cash, others have mentioned an R8 Z06 and a car I had in high school, the Z28 ( no disrespect). How about the 599? prices have dropped since the F12 intro'd and yes I know its more of a true GT and not a track weapon. But that V12 detuned enzo engine has got to be awe inspiring. Anyone thought about getting one of these?

I had a 599 and loved it. I looked for another one but I only wanted a hgte and the few on the market are too pricey. The car's transmission is troublesome at parking speed but there is something about the car that simply made it special and one I will remember for the rest of my life. 8400 rpm v12 sound is definitely something unreal as well. The best bet would be to find a 07 or 08 with low miles and make sure it's been serviced.

I have given this some thought since I'm in the boat to make a switch, I'm not exactly sure what I want to go with..... I have gotten it down to an R8 and maybe an SLS AMG depending on how it drives, since I've never been in one.

599 sounds like a really good option buy why not an 430?

I think folks are starting these " alternative vehicle " threads in the hope PAG is reading this board...but I could be wrong...
How about a Bugatti Veyron Super Sports? That should be pretty fast on the track I would think...

I feel like the 430 lost something in the looks department, subjective I know but still. I would almost prefer a 360 to the 430 or even find a 512BB to treasure, those cars feel more special to me. The big V12 front engine Ferrari cars have a little something more, especially as a GT more accessible with supercar-like attributes. Ever since seeing "The Gumball Rally" I've had a soft spot for them. The problem is that I have become accustom to the porsche feel and for me the driving feel is ultimately my preference and a big front engine GT I don't think will do it unless that engine is just the dogs bullocks. My mind is just wandering at this point and I may just go back to a 997.2 RS a car I have driven and adore.

I was holding on like a trooper but with the delay it looks like it killed my plans for ED next chance for me would be fall. I understand these things happen and Porsche is doing their best but I am now really considering other options. This forum has been great so much info about this and not many other places for a similar discussion my heart is still with the 991 GT3 but idle hands are tools of the devil and man have things been idle......

Yep. Agree. The best part of the 599 is that even 10 years from now it will be fantastic...vs a 430 which is fun but easily lost in the times. The scud is OK...but it's still just a "tarted up" 430 at the end of the day (though it's a BLAST to drive).

Sorry...I didn't mean anything by it and wasn't necessarily referring to you in particular, but they've been a couple other threads about alternatives. Plus,I think it's good for Porsche to see that there are alternatives to the GT3 that people are considering. Hopefully they'll speed things up that way...

No worries neanicu! I completely agree! I'm actually disappointed in myself I had anticipated this type of a problem occurring with the new engine and yet when everything finally hit the fan somehow I was still massively disappointed. A road trip up the California coast in a 599 might just cure my ills!!

I spent some time driving a 599 at tremblant. It felt big and cumbersome In the turns. After getting out of a scud or 458 it feels even bigger.

There's something to be said of that engine though, it's amazing and pulls like a freight train.

^^Its DEFINITELY a gt car, no ways around that one. Though the HGTE cars are pretty solid.

That's what I was afraid of, big car. The F12 is signif smaller but signif more money. Although the 991 is bigger than the 996 or 997 that rear wheel steering seems to make it feel smaller. If only I could drive one, perhaps I wouldn't be debating other cars....

I'm mostly a Ferrari guy. The Porsches I've owned always seem to be when I'm in between Ferraris. At one time I had both in the garage .. 997.1 GT3 and 599. Long story short, I preferred the GT3. Loved the power in the 599 but in the end it was a tad too big and too much GT. Sold both and went the 430 Scuderia route. The GT3 turned into a major disappointed with 4 RMS leaks in 2500 miles.

Best replacement would be a 997RS in .1 or .2 form.

Big dollar Bargin shopping would have me seriously looking for those McLaren deals everybody has been talking about.

599 and 430 scuderia are also on bargin list.

I currently have a 997.1RS so i can wait
