My car history is 911 GTS to 997Turbo S to 430 Scuderia to 599 GTB with HGTE. The 599 is my fave car hands down….no contest. I combines the Turbo S and Scud and is better than both in many ways for spirited weekend driving.

so what is the market for 599?

I came across a private sale opportunity on a 2009, black 599 with tan daytona seats, custom wheels and wrapped.

For about the same money I would get a 430 Scuderia, much better value play in terms of future depreciation. If you must have a V12, then get a 2008+ 599, I believe these cars have some updates in the F1 system that makes them eligible for the HGTE package.

Brilliant!

I was looking at one as well before I settled on the .2GT3. I was most impressed by the interior...must be the highest quality interior I've ever seen in any car. Just gorgeous.

I figured I can always get one in a few years and prices will have settled by then.

I can't imagine you'll be missing the 991 GT3...

I've been loving it. While a 430 scud would have been more dynamic, its a different pain for me to own in tight garage spaces without various sensors and where I can't really run the car locally so I'd have to pile miles on to get it out to those places. The 599 I just cruise around in and something just feels right (my inner old man is definitely showing).

So what do you folks think the future resale value for the 599 will be in short term and long term?

for 160k you can buy a .2RS which will hold value short and long term.

What makes the 599 so special @ .2RS prices?

Thoughts?

The RS is easily the "investment" car. The special feeling with the 599 is from having a front engine v12 Ferrari and the heritage that comes from it. There is a certain presence that the car seems to exude that is tough to rival via most of its competition. As far as loss, for YOUR specific deal you wouldn't lose too much money as thats a smoking deal as long as the car is clean. Bottom of those cars seems to be about 145ish and that would allow you to actually put a decent amount of miles on the car. Depends what you want to spend the money on or what will make you the happiest to look at in the garage when you walk into it.

So you guys think the HGTE package is worth the extra? Does it really make a big diff in the handling? Coming close to trading horses

You can add the HGTE package but it's not cheap. Mine did not have it. If I were to get another one I would not care if it had the package or not.

The transmission programming and interior are really REALLY nice. The suspension minus being a little lower doesn't matter that much...the wheels look nice IMHO...but its like a 30k retrofit...so that's a decent chunk of change. Given the two I had...I LOVE the HGTE...but thats really up for you to decide. The value proposition would be an 07/08 with 13ish-k miles for about 160-170 depending on options etc.

So, for awhile I was considering a manual 599.. The last manual v12.. But them I heard it was a very poorly adapted transmission as the engine revs too fast to execute proper smooth shifts.

Anyone here driven a manual 599?
