Default R8 to replace GT3

Well I've been looking around ever since I heard the news of the new engine and personally I don't have the patience to be waiting for a new engine, more issues, etc. so I made the choice to move on to another car for the time being and come back around when the RS comes around.

In my search to find driving nirvana, or at least something similar to my GT3, I found the R8 V10. I didn't really realize how awesome the car was until I drove it. The car is pretty freaking good, not sure how it would fair on a track but on the streets it was pretty sweet.

My biggest downside in the car is that I don't particular like the way the car looks (I know I must be crazy since this car is so many people's wet dream) but I guess that's just me. The car drove awesome, very planted in the corners and the sound when it takes off is beyond epic. The brakes could use some work, so I could see them giving me problems on a hard track day.

I'm not a fan of the MP4-12C so that's not even something I am looking into. the only car that was comparable to me is the R8 even though it will never be the GT3, its pretty damn close.

Ive had an 09 v8 since new and I still have it and enjoy it. It's not the fastest, but handles great, sounds great and is exotic looking (Im with you on the styling too). They are a heck of a lot of fun, the electronics work great and people seem to love em.

I agree with you on the styling. It isn't bad IMO, but as you said, lots of people need to change their shorts upon seeing one.
Regardless... nice choice.

Ok, but ultimately boring. I only kept mine for 8 months.

I was always under the assumption that it's a toy race car and that it really doesn't have any bones behind it, but after taking a quick drive in one I was very impressed. It went to the top of my list.

One of my favorite cars yet. I sold my v10 spyder to get my gt3.

Get a gmg exhaust or similiar, wow...

I weep when i think about it.

The V10 Plus will be closest to a GT3. The V10 would be fairly close. Costs a bit more, and is a bit more to insure.

Still heavier though it hides its mass fairly well. Not quite as sharp as far as handling goes. Seats are horrible on the track - no significant support. The new dual-clutch is good, but PDK is better. It does have a manual option that is quite good.

Much better as a DD. Except for the fact it attracts WAY more attention than any Porsche (with the possible exception of a GT3RS in skittles colors). It's an exotic and gets treated as such.

Drive one - it will help with the waiting.

Absolutely. It's a fine car for all the reasons mentioned above. I kept mine for only 2 years though, because it's not all that involving to drive. I don't consider it a real substitution for any Porschephile, unless you can have both.

For me, about as fun as dating an attractive yet work obsessed accountant. S/he might be pretty, but you get the feeling they don't really care if you were there or not.

If you don't track a lot, I would prefer a manual with a nice Milltek exhaust.

I don't want to sound negative. It's beautiful. But I had the crappy, antiquated automatic tranny. I did test drive the manual, which is much better, peaky, but more fun. That car was only available in blue and I wanted white.

I take my cars quite a bit to the track and I pushed the car pretty hard and would fair to say that I could have a really good time in this thing. I'm not going to be breaking any records in it but neither is the GT3, at the end of the day it's about having a fun car.

As far as the V10 plus goes it is about 25K more for a car that doesn't add much, I would rather pay 175K for a V10 and then drop some dough on an exhaust. Boom, I got a ghetto V10 plus.
