I have not yet heard of Mac's with, say, 30K to 40K miles on it, so I am not sure how reliable they really are for that type of use. My last C4S gave me 0 issues in 40K miles, and my current 997.2TT seems to be on the same path. Perhaps if I learn that these cars can get around with no issues in the same way as Porsches, I would seriously consider one for my next DD, even though I agree with previous comments that Porsches are more stealth, so this would be a point to consider for me. Thanks for the comment on cabin noise, another point to consider.
I'm in the same boat. I'm thinking about the TTS as an alternative too, but depending on how porsche handles my order I started looking at mclarens as back up.

Jeff we are in the same region (I am in NoVa). Check out the McLaren dealer in Tysons. They have quite a few cars there. I finally saw my first 991 TTS and the Mclaren looks far superior especially if you can get a lightly used example for the same price as the TTS.

Will do. I don't see any preowned inventory on their site but I'll give them a call.

Thanks

The Tysons dealer is actually a branch of the Philly dealer - so be sure to look at the Philly site's inventory too. They have some really nice looking cars there according to the website (I'm in NoVa too). I have a buddy that bought a car in Philly from them and had a great experience with them. Also, one of the salesman in Tysons has a son who races for Porsche in Europe - fun to talk to to!

Jeff
I'm not sure what if any preowned inventory they have. They do have a lot of new spiders. I am not sure if the DC dealership is linked somehow to the Philly dealership which does have some used cars.

Not to be a jerk but I can't imagine either the 991 GT3 or MP4C as a DD. I drove my 996 GT3 to work a few times and it was not fun. Weekend toy, sure. Don't you ever stop by Costco on the way home? I'd be afraid to park either near other cars at lunch or on errands The automatic would make traffic less of a chore but it would seem frustrating regardless.

I come from a place where 2-3 years old MP4s and 458s are priced the same as a brand new nicely optioned GT3. I still ordered the GT3.

McLaren seems committed to turbocharged engines for the forseeable future.

Question: What type of engine is best suited for a track-day/street car, Normally Aspirated or Forced Induction?

If the current GT3 is to be the last NA version as some have speculated; where does that leave other makes?

GM: C7 ZO6/Camaro Z28 - FI / NA
SRT Viper - NA
Ford Mustang GT350/Boss 351 - NA
Lamborghini: Huracan - NA
Audi R8 - NA
Ferrari - NA
Etc...

Anyone predict McLaren will ever do a NA engine in the future, or have the eco-terrorists already won that argument?

Also possible the 458 replacement will be FI.

I can hear it now .... "Wow Grandpa, is this one of those cars you have to steer and everything yourself? You couldn't just tell it where to take you?"

Just wait for the GM recalls associated with the techno wonder car of 2040!

^^Don't worry, due to the fact the government would have a ****load of work to do if cars started to actually do this (be it on ground or flying with automation), it couldn't possibly happen for at least 50-1000 years. LOL.

The 650s looks like a blast.

I live in illinois and dd a 991gt3 currently (with snow tires) soon to be mp4 daily driver. I dont think you can compare a 996gt3 to either car as far as comfort.

I dont get hung up on where im parking my cars. To me there would be no point in owning these cars if I couldnt drive them all year, anywhere. But Im unusual, Im sure of that.
