Rumour is the next gt3 will hve a race homologated engine from lemans, manual gearbox only and hydraulic steering. It will be 0.6 sec faster around the 'ring due to light weight materials used
Porsche and driving enthusiast are outraged an saying they feel dissociated from the brand and it's not keeping up with modern times

Either way it will be sad , because i don't think those F1 turbo engines sound as good as NA v10 Ferrari or even the most recent F1 engines. Faster and more efficient : Yes , But will it have the character of Gt3 : Doubt it..

If they build a hybrid gt3 , what will happen to gt2 variants ...

That's why I'm a firm believer that the 997.2 GT3, RS and 4.0's are the pinnacle of a breed of analog drivers’ cars.
I’m not knocking the 991 GT3 at all and am in awe of what Porsche has achieved, recent issues notwithstanding…it’s just that the game has moved on, and it's just me who's not willing to go along. lol

The McLaren P1 is a hybrid with twin-turbo V8. Chris Harris says the electric hybrid energy has totally solved the issue of turbo lag:

"Conversely, I personally think that the amalgamation of electricity and forced induction in the P1 is perhaps even more significant than the 918's chassis tech. Here we are locked in a 30-year search for an end to turbo lag - variable vanes, anti-lag, high compression - and it's volts that have finally solved the problem. The P1's throttle response is one of the Eureka moments of my motoring life."
