I have driven all the 996 and 997 GT3 cars n lauding the 996 GT3 RS and all the Ferrari V8 sports cars.
I have not driven the 991GT3 and my December delivery is off in June or so.

It's really impossible to subjectively and objectively compare these cars. The cars are so different and the passion and feel is so different. The best advice is to keep and open mind and drive everything. That being said the late model Ferrari cars are simply incredible and often with the noise power and mid engine balance one feels that you are in a Camel Light car. The Porsche GT3 cars are very strong and capable but don't have the balance of the Ferrari v8 gt cars.

If I was going to the race track I would likely take the Porsche GT3 because these cars are firmer in the suspension department and potentially smashing or stone chipping up a $200 to $300000 car is hard for me to do.

Drive them all as that is the only way to know. Keep an open mind and don't assume it's Italian junk it's quite good engineering with passion.

997rs4.0

I've been lucky enough to drive most of the modern Ferrari cars and owns 996rs and 997 4.0.
For example it is almost impossible to compare a 458 with a 997 4.0! Totally different cars! It's actually easier to compare a Nissan Gtr with a 458! The Ferrari just sounds so damn much nicer!

I own a 2014 458 and. 2011 GT3 RS 3.8.

Have owned many Porsches and only this Ferrari.

The 458 cost twice as much as the gt3. After a few thousand miles of driving it, you can tell why it costs twice as much. It is faster when you want it to be, quieter when you want it to be, and everything in between. It is the car that will turn heads, people grab their iPhones to take videos, old ladies and little boys all want to see it. It's the real deal. If you can afford one you owe it to yourself to own one, at least once.

But when I want to go for a drive, a real drive where I can hit redline in 2, 3, 4 th gear all day, and head to mountains for 6 hours, I would take the Gt3. I don't track this car (gt3 cups remind me that this is still a street car) but I do have open exhaust (full muffler delete) so the sound is great and much like a cup car. I also find the brakes better in the gt3 (PCCB) but this may be because the porsche pad/rotor combo works better when not fully hot vs. ferrari.


If 10 years, I will have owned several other Porsches, and probably only this one ferrari.

I should clarify that when I say "faster" I am talking about not in this same universe faster. Vs say a 4.0 RS vs a 3.8 RS which is a little faster.

It looks like the best advice to buy and keep several brands. There are no ultimate cars. Ferrari is after you get it and drive it on a level all buy itself. It's the real deal especially the late model V8 cars. These cars are incredible and no matter what brand loyalty you insist you have sample everything as part of your bucket list.


I have modified 360 spider , gallardo spider, 930 505 slantnose 430hp, Boxster Spyder, 993RS Clubsport clone and these things are all different and I have garage space so they are staying.

Would like a Ferrari 430 16M ........and a Radical SR3 SL for the track and street. Wife tells me I am over bought and no more or else. I found a Tour de France 16M at Steve Harris imports in salt lake city sat in it it's sweet. Will sound like a F1 car when and if I get my hands on it.

Ferrari of San Francisco has a 16m too Scuderia red Kimis championship year and color 450miles

You want maximum driving enjoyment, choose the ferrari. you want to set lap times and talk smack at the track, choose the GT3. Ferrari for play, Porsche for work, as simple as that.

I've never driven a Ferrari, or Lamborghini, but I'm sure the GT3's better. Ha Ha..
