I had a 458, liked it but was a bit boring to me. As previously mentioned, it does many things well, but for a street car I felt like I was driving a new M6 on coilovers. I currently have 2 Scuds, one is twin-turbo, one is a DE track car. I enjoy both, but they both give me that "raw" feeling like the GT3 does. I had a 2010 GT3 RS which I loved and currently have a new 991 GT3. I cannot wait til Porsche figures out the problem so I can take it to the track, it should be very quick. When people asked me which car I liked better on the track, the RS or the Ferrari, I would tell them the Ferrari was much easier to drive fast, but when I drove the RS fast, it made me feel like I accomplished something..
I am looking forward to the new 458 "Scpeciale"...

I've driven the 458 on the Las Vegas racetrack and I can tell you, IT IS the BEST CAR I've ever driven, PERIOD! The noise of that V8 and how it shifts and handles is only comparable to F1 cars, the engine, OH MY! I cannot even describe it, after 7 laps, I was literally shaking getting out of the car, and it IS on my bucket list of cars to own.
GT3 however, is a track machine, is something your can throw around, get it dirty, chipped, modded, change tires to track tires, play with alignment, put roll bar and 6-point harness, and just have a blast driving hard on track or twisty roads... totally different beast IMO.
So, at the end of the day, for a track purpose car, GT3, for an amazing driving experience, pure enjoyment, and a different league of car, 458. It all depends on the actual usage IMO.

I've driven a few Ferrari and they have never spoke to me. I feel like I must be completely missing the boat because each time I left wondering why people are so crazy about these cars. The 458 looks sexy though, especially as a speciale

Im 6ft 200 lbs and Ive never had a problem with any post 355 ferrari (That one was too small for me). Though the 911s have the most room of nearly any sports car...thats definitely the case.

Funny that you say that: a friend of mine, a fellow 991 GT3 owner, stepped into my 458 Speciale and found the interior a lot more spacious... probably due to the absense of the 'Panamera' centre console.

I am 6ft 2 and drove 458 not bad once you get in, it is more cramped than the 991 I have now!

Hmm, I am 6'2, 220 pounds, and I didn't find 458 cramped AT ALL, Lamborghini is another story, you basically cannot be tall, wearing a helmet and driving a Lambo on track.
