Agree with carcommander above. Both are great drives! No real comparison though. The 458 is f'n awesome - the way it drives, the speed, the sound, and especially the way it makes me feel. It's all emotion. Would you rather do a german girl or an italian girl? No choice is wrong. I'm Greek so I choose Italian to keep it in the Mediterranean.

Burning Brakes
Based on this feedback, I really need to go for another drive in a 458. I drove one recently and was shockingly underwhelmed. It didn't feel scalpel sharp to me. Steering was great, but throttle felt disconnected, brakes were terrible cold. A test drive around town is not enough, I'm sure.

Neutral PDK clutch dump burnouts are way more fun in the GT3.
When the Gestapo release the stop sale I'm sure I can find one to make sure the above statement is true!
Were we not just talking about the fact that given the opportunity we would both drive the 458 as a daily driver? Your GTS would feel so lonely and become despondent.
Carpe Diem.

The car you drove must have needed an alignment and been in sport vs race mode. The 458 in race mode is sharper than any non cup car I have ever been in. Have not driven a Carrera GT but better than other Porsches.

I had a 458, liked it but was a bit boring to me. As previously mentioned, it does many things well, but for a street car I felt like I was driving a new M6 on coilovers. I currently have 2 Scuds, one is twin-turbo, one is a DE track car. I enjoy both, but they both give me that "raw" feeling like the GT3 does. I had a 2010 GT3 RS which I loved and currently have a new 991 GT3. I cannot wait til Porsche figures out the problem so I can take it to the track, it should be very quick. When people asked me which car I liked better on the track, the RS or the Ferrari, I would tell them the Ferrari was much easier to drive fast, but when I drove the RS fast, it made me feel like I accomplished something..
I am looking forward to the new 458 "Scpeciale"...

All The above 458's look beautiful, and great to see a car doing what its meant (driven) Don't get me wrong italians make beautiful cars. Ive just always been under the impression they have mechanical and wiring issues? maybe that is history, Owners fill us in on ownership of ferrari. How is the reliability on the new ones? also Do they offer reasonable servicing nowadays? and also the quality control compared to the germans? Body panels, Gaps, Paint, Feeling... Etc. I would own A F12 in a heartbeat :reckon: But i would get in too much trouble in that car.

I've driven the 458 on the Las Vegas racetrack and I can tell you, IT IS the BEST CAR I've ever driven, PERIOD! The noise of that V8 and how it shifts and handles is only comparable to F1 cars, the engine, OH MY! I cannot even describe it, after 7 laps, I was literally shaking getting out of the car, and it IS on my bucket list of cars to own.
GT3 however, is a track machine, is something your can throw around, get it dirty, chipped, modded, change tires to track tires, play with alignment, put roll bar and 6-point harness, and just have a blast driving hard on track or twisty roads... totally different beast IMO.
So, at the end of the day, for a track purpose car, GT3, for an amazing driving experience, pure enjoyment, and a different league of car, 458. It all depends on the actual usage IMO.
