Possiblities?

Dealers will certainly not be doing engine overhauls. IF that is the issue, remanufactured engines would be shipped to dealers for switch-out.

That would be the way to do that - anything else is too prohibitively costly IMO unless the volume of cars affected is vanishingly small...

I could live with that. However, if all the cars are affected the cost to Porsche would be prohibitive. Cheaper to repair, extend warranty and some compensation which I believe Porsche will do.

Would any reasonably intelligent human being really accept their new 150k GT3 have its factory engine pulled and a fu##ing remanufactured one put in. i mean are people really serious?

I just got back from Finland 3 weeks ago, highly, highly recommend Porsche driving experience vacations, specially Camp 4S.
Might be cheaper than the depreciation hit on a GT3 and you can still have a DD that you can, well drive.

I know there are many here that think some of us are jumping the gun as to the seriousness of the problem but given the time it has taken Porsche to report back I fear the worst. I hope with all my heart I am wrong. I desperately want the car but not if it involves local dealers opening up the engine and making significant repairs.
My view is anticipate the worst and be prepared to respond. Also, Porsche should know what many of us would do if the worst should come to pass.

Sorry, more hammering Porsche than schadenfreude.
They did ask for it, you (we) didn't..
Let's see, I'm looking for fireworks with the RS comeback..

I hope you guys record all these writings...
I can already see tomorrow the signs of relief...kind of like : Phffffffeeeeewwww....,That was close!,The bullet barely missed us,That's nothing,That sounds easy enough...etc.
I wonder how many have real technical knowledge...this is not complicated brain surgery.
My point is : Porsche hasn't completely forgotten building engines that they will need a complete overhaul.
Here's a sample of rebuilding a Porsche engine. It's from an old 930 Turbo, but believe you me,it is not all that different. Watch all the parts. Here's part 1 :

A replacement factory crate engine is. . . . a factory engine. Not sure why some of you are getting your panties in a bunch.
Having R&R's engines in the past some of you guys act like it's the creation of a new lifeform.
I would not accept a new GT3 with a local tech, no matter how good he is, to retrofit a critical organ w/i the motor. But for those cars in DE, if the factory puts in a new motor, or if to those already shipped a crate engine shows up at your dealer, then it's no big f'n deal.
----------------
Assuming that whatever it is requires a motor transplant.
