Default Placed My Order Today

I have been waiting for my dealer's next allocation for the last few months - originally due in December; yesterday the dealer received their allocation and I placed the order for my car today.

It must have come up suddenly because the dealer was told that he needed to place the order by February 24 in order to hold a late April manufacturing date. Even the dealer was surprised given all the press about fires on two European cars (out of 785 delivered worldwide) - I saw Porsche press release dated Feb 20. He was also surprised by the short time slot they were given to get the car on order. Maybe others who are waiting for their allocations will be in luck - one can only hope.

So now the final wait begins - GT Silver, standard wheels, LED headlights, PCCB, front axle lifter, full leather and an assortment of other bits. Certainly is easy to spend money!

Has anyone's production schedule (lock date, production date, etc.) slipped or been pushed since the announcement this past week?

Checked with my dealer yesterday and there was no changes to my build date (Late April)

When I ordered my car yesterday, my dealer was pleased that we had a relatively early manufacturing date in late April given that he had just received the allocation. I am not sure about this, but I believe my order is "locked" on February 24 only 4 business days after the allocation was received. This is not a problem for me as my allocation was delayed for two months so I had plenty of time to think through what I wanted in the car.

I am hoping that Porsche has worked their way through the "normal" startup issues associated with any new launch and that production will smooth out. Perhaps the timing of my allocation, short time to lock and 60 plus day manufacturing cycle is an indication that the GT3 will start to roll off the assembly floor?

^^Good to hear!

I don't think anyone knows for a fact what the issue is and what the fix looks like for now. But my feeling is that they have at least an idea and are working their way through the process now. Don't imagine that it will be several weeks before we hear the news. Likely another week or two.

I checked with my dealer and they say they just don't know. Besides the recall no additional information has been put out.

Let's hope they keep the production line going and the fix is something they can do after the fact

Jeff
