Feb. 20 (Bloomberg) -- Porsche AG is recalling the 911 GT3
and advising owners not to use the high-performance sports car
after two vehicles caught fire following an engine failure.
The recall affects all 785 Porsche 911 GT3 vehicles from
the current model year, the Stuttgart, Germany-based automaker
said in a statement. The price of the GT3 version of the iconic
911 starts at 137,303 euros ($188,000).
“There have been no accidents or personal injuries,” the
Volkswagen AG brand said in the statement. “The internal
examinations of the reason for the engine failures aren’t
finalized yet.” The two vehicle fires happened in Europe.
Recalls in recent months by carmakers, including VW,
Chrysler Group LLC and Toyota Motor Corp., highlight the
challenges of adding increasingly sophisticated technology to
new models. The incidents involving the GT3 fires happened in
Switzerland and Italy, German trade magazine Autobild reported
on its website today....

Yes and yes, I dropped my car off this morning and they would have wished I had not and had it picked up by Porsche road side assistance. They had just got the email from headquarters. I was dropping it off for other repairs, lucky me.

ALL GT3's recalled. Owners are instructed NOT to drive their cars. Porsche will tow them to the dealers for repair. Apparently a faulty tube running to the oil exchange. More details by Porsche later.

Ohhh.. Good info.. I was wondering how this worked.. Hope they can eventually fix it out at the dealer (after sending training kit from Germany after they figure it out).. Never been thru a re-call. Anyone know how it works from a high level? Could it be 6 mos, or 2 mos? Who knows. I'm feel better save then sorry. Yes, right thing to do. I trusted Porsche would step up to the plate if needed. They will make so much on that new little MaCann that it should help offset any major financial issues. -- I'd hate to see them get gun-shy of building these fantastic cars.

Atlanta. The sports car producer Porsche is inspecting all engines of 911 GT3 vehicles of model year 2014. Porsche is informing the owners of the affected vehicles directly and recommending that they stop using their vehicles. The company is offering to pick up the vehicles and take them to a Porsche Centre immediately.
Safety is a number one priority at Porsche, and the company takes its responsibility seriously. After engine damage occurred in two vehicles in Europe and the vehicles then caught fire. Porsche decided to inspect all 785 delivered vehicles worldwide. There was no traffic accident and no personal injure. Internal studies to determine the cause of the engine damage have not been completed yet.
Porsche will report on any new findings immediately.
