The problem is they don't know what the problem is. Rather than recall the vehicles already delivered they will hold the ones to be delivered. Until they know what to fix they cannot fix it. For now it cannot be a safety issue because they would have recalled all the cars.

The odds of a RS release at Geneva are looking slimmer. But it's just a delay. The Gt3 issue will be fixed first and then the RS will come a bit later than previously scheduled.

I agree the PAG statement does suggest some thing that is more than minor.

Agreed with @Nick. More than minor...yet not something that poses imminent safely risk...

Ugh.

Certainly concerning. But all part of the adventure I guess. Someday, there will be a GT3 in my driveway.... someday.

Nick,I know you are concerned about the new car,I would be in the same position if I were buying.
But remaining positive is still the way to go. I'm almost certain if anything major were to happen with the car,it would've manifested by now and we would've heard about it. Especially since quite a few have taken them to the track with no break in miles.
It will probably turn out to be a minor problem that Porsche chose to address rather than having to issue a recall later.
Regarding your above question, use your own judgment and always take internet posts with a little grain of salt.

Another Nick.

Exactly what I was thinking.

For the record I remain optimistic that the car will be badass, and be fixed properly.

OTOH, the length of delay cannot be estimated. I'm canceling my March trackday.

Dealer confirmed today that car didn't actually make it on the boat as it was held in Emden. I guess I'd rather have my car brought back to the factory for the fix rather than have a local dealer install the fix. Especially if it means swapping out the engine.

Default Fire?

Must be serious and my gut says FIRE. I am sure it will be resolved though. Swap couple of parts and there you go. Getting the right parts to the dealer will be the biggest challenge like always. Just be patient guys. Remember we have 4 yr warranty so no reason to panic.

I dont really see a reason to panic. Im sure the Legal Dept is trying to cover all bases here.

BTW, SaminTx, do you have a fire extinguisher ?

I'm thinking it could just be a pause to investigate too. And by "thinking," I mean "hoping."

I have every intention of accepting delivery of the car. I know Porsche will make it right. I also do not believe the engine fire is related to the stop sale. If that was a possible issue, Porsche would had issued a recall because it is clearly safety matter.

Frayed, if they took your car back to the factory clearly the matter is more serious than Porsche is letting on.

I'm going out in the garage to have a word with my car about this right now. I'm telling it not to worry....

Yes, I have a mighty 2.5 lb extinguisher ready to go.

I can always count on Mike for brilliant ideas; will do same tonight but also will remind car not to catch fire for no reason while on track.
