I hope you are right. FWIW, I know it is fantastic car and why I bought it. But it has been plagued with a number of problems all of which require down time while being serviced. This latest fix better be simple, quick and permanent.

The last thing any of us want is a car that spends much of its time in a Porsche service bay no matter how good it is.

I am with you Nick. Lets wait and see what PAG says and take it from there. If its major surgery then we can decide but what if they call and say Nick, you car is not effected and you can come pick it up Thats would be cool, ha? I am just hoping for the best and that's all we can do. Wait and see.

At this point, we have a free option (other than waiting time consumed and hair lost / grayed during the last couple of weeks...) on what is THE car we all wanted. If things are far better than the worst case / doomsday scenario we've all contemplated at some point, we will literally get over these issues nearly as quickly as the new 3 laps a circuit.

I'd be curious to know if Porsche is waiting for all cars to land somewhere. Think about tracking all the cars. If everything is stationary, it's easier to find things. I think Frayed said his car was left at Emden. If the boat you guys are waiting on is the "straggler", then maybe once they arrive and it being the last stop, they'll have everything in order. I believe even Macca is within a week of his car arriving at port.
Pure speculation, but could be part of the delay if in fact there is a fix.

Good point JB. They probably already know which cars are effected but they want to have all the cars on hand to do the inspection before they make any communication to owners effected. The obvious defect cars were kept behind in Emden and on to factory. Our cars been on the boat for few weeks now so it makes sense for the delay in communication. I think its all coming together now.

As I'm bored and have nothing else to track...our boat is due to arrive earlier now. 3/5 at 6am. Bets on if we'll have any info from PAG prior to docking?

Yet again , Jesse on the Rennteam forum speaking with an authoritative voice claims the two car fires were related to con rod assembly failure. He has been right before on other matters.

Hopefully this is confined to a few cars and a bad batch. If all cars are affected, I cannot see how Porsche can make owners whole. On the resale market, these cars will be tar babies regardless of an extended warranty. Furthermore, Porsche has not had time to test the durability of the new con rods and failures may occur in the future.

Who needs the headache?

My little flaming GT3 is almost home. I am SURE our cars are free of defect except the few minor tweaks but they need to be inspected @ PDI and will hear something his week from PAG. AP called me himself. . Be happy !!!!!There are only few of these puppies out there and the longer it takes the less cars are made which is bad for the folks ordering but makes the car rare. My dealer has only received 1 car so far. What does that tell you?
Soon it be all electric cars and as such I will enjoy the last of these cars while others bad talk PDK etc etc. Guess who will be the looser at the end .

If this is true, I hope it is a batch of something that was bad and they can track a few affected VINs. If the assembly need be checked for each individual engine, then....

Hope our cars will be sent to the dealer not stuck at PDI in SD when it arrives tomorrow. This way we can have visitation hours with the patient

I think cars have been stuck at PDI at the port since this started on 2/10-2/11.

Can anyone in TX or East Coast confirm?

Yes, my car was offloaded from the Camellia Ace at the Port of Houston on the afternoon of 2/11/14 and is still there at the Porsche PDI facility. My car completed production on 1/14/14.

Thanks, @jfr0317.

Any idea if it's being stored indoors?

Tim, just a guess but since there are so few GT3's and the rest of the Porsche's will be shipped out relatively fast, I have to believe they will store these cars indoors.

I have no idea about whether mine is indoors, but I surely hope so! Otherwise, it is covered in ice this morning.
