From Porker@Rennteam:

"I just had the same discussion at my workshop, they had to change the wheel liners to those of the GT3 Cup to avoid rubbing and allow a more track oriented setup."

Porker will try to get the parts numbers.

I raised the entire car one turn to take the worst out of the rubbing but I still have holes in my front liners. I've left the grills in, they catch a lot of rubber, but they are still open, it falls out with autobahn speeds I think.

'I can explain officer, 310kph is the official process of clear the front rads- stops the car over heating and being a possible safety concern from boiling fluid'... should work

TRAKCAR, have you experienced rubbing of the tyres in the wheel liners in compressions on the race track? If yes, does it destroy your liners?

Yes that's my video above, you can hear it. It was a lot worse before I raised the car.

Well destroyed; there are holes in the liners. Next time the fronts come of to replace tires (Should be, this weekend) I'll take pictures.

Spa and Red Bull Ring have compression but no rubbing but that maybe is because I made room in there at the Ring.

BTW all my 997RS rubbed because lowered about 10 mm

Thanks, Peter, it will be very interesting for many of us to see pictures.

But I guess your 997 RS had less rubbing than what you have experienced with your 991 RS, no? How would you rank/judge this rubbing problem with the 991 RS? Sounds 'serious' and not acceptable to me, especially for a GT3 RS intensively tested by Porsche on the Ring.

Yes, less rubbing and this is not normal. I have to see it but sounds pretty rough, I can see most not finding it acceptable.
But the Ring is not normal and I've never driven a 997RS there to compare.

Will post pics here eventually.

FWIW:
I drive my 997.1 a bit faster than you did in the movie without the scraping from the wheels. The front lip makes some noice though.

You drive a lot faster and yes the only scraping I can hear in a 997 is the front lip, but still have other holes from rubbing that I cant even hear and The 991RS scraping is really loud.

The way you drive you may have holes in your fenders....

This rubbing issue: AP (or one of the other PAG characters) made a point at a press interview that certain front inner liners were to be removed for track use. Did anyone follow that guideline?

It's not those grates it touches.
It would only give me more downforce front.
I'd like to take them out but haven't yet. Maybe this weekend if it's simple while swapping wheels.

A German 991 GT3 RS owner posted the attached picture in the German forum PFF. It is a picture from one of the factory GT3 RS he saw in Leipzig and running on track. Pretty scary picture ...

This owner reports to have seen 3 cars with this issue.

And we cannot say that the Porsche track in Leipzig has compressions...

So Porsche should be well aware about the issue beyond the owner complaints if they have it on their factory cars.

The owner has the same issue on his car on the rear axle. He has reported the issue to his Porsche dealer and is awaiting an answer.

For me we should see very soon a recall since this issue cannot continued to be ignored by PAG and classified as "normal wear".
