Consolidated 991RS thread

Not my favorite looking variant of the 911 but definitely BOLD and I like that. I foresee the performance, exterior colors and interior to be just as bold, with a price tag to match. No doubt Porsche is going big on this.

I wonder what the setup will feel like--especially on the street. AP mentioned more than once that "increasing the bandwidth (read: daily usability)" of the GT3 allows for them to go "more extreme" for the RS version. The size of the body (TT/S body), wider front track, absolutely massive wing, etc.--along with changes in suspension setup and dampening (no doubt)--appears to create an overall package that may be more difficult to drive on the street than the precious RS.
But, hey--that's what this thread is about, right? Speculation. Not at all like the stop-sale thread--no speculation there at all...

LOL Though the GT3 has become more usable and a "car that does it all", its limitations cannot be exploited on the street. Not even close. It will be a larger gap of usable potential for the RS unless driven on the track especially with the aero, which needs speed to produce it's intended effects. Though I bet sitting in the new RS with the ignition off you'd melt! (Not a recall joke) Hope to see it at Geneva.

Probably a justifiable 50k premium over a GT3 what what can be seen and what I'm assuming will be included: carbon hood, carbon roof, 4.0 500hp, wider front and rear fenders, bigger wing, 918 type seats, exclusivity.

also, note if that decklid is the production version, gone is the incremental 'forced air' effect of the previous RS'es decklid scoop ... and I doubt those side vents are functional/air intakes ...

bring back the orange and greens ... or only sell it in voodoo blue!

+1,000 It was the racing category (GT3) that spawned this model and due to homologation regulation we got a badass 911. Now that racing has changed it's lost that "my car has the race engine" pride.

Not really justifiable. For $50k you could buy a very nice Mercedes. There are not adding a cars worth of value just making an extra $40k in profit.

^^That may be true, but is a subjective statement. $50k in options alone is "available" on most Porsches.
And that $50k in options (which is entirely up to the individual to determine value...) would likely not provide the performance / driving experience gains of an RS over a GT3.

.1RS was $12K premium
Wider body, sunroof delete, LWFW, bigger rear wheels and tires, big rear spoiler, nice decals.
.2RS was $26K premium
Wider body, LWFW, DEM, Seats, some interior lightening, bigger rear wheels and tires, big rear spoiler, bigger air intake, more HP, Ti center muffler, Front fender tac-on things, clown decals.
4.0 was $50K premium
Limited edition, 200cc, carbon fibre hood and fenders, painted rear wing, bigger wing end plates, canards better looking decals.
I see a lot of 4.0 type additions over the GT3, so I say $20K -$30K over GT3, depending on the initial GT3 production run catastrophe and what they include.
