The hooded sportchrono on the 991, looks infinitely better than the old one. I would buy it just for the aesthetics for $400. I concur with mike that in Porsche world a gauge for that price is a steal.

I have one on my 2007. It's useless and I could easily live without it. I never use it and honestly hardly even notice it until someone gets in the car and asks what it is.

I know you're on the fence about ordering it but I'd spend the money on something else.

Get it! I got it for the looks because the dash without it looks a little plain. Now if you are just going to track the car and not DD it and enjoy its looks, don't get it. My opinion, of course.

If you really like the look of it, get it. If you’re not sure, save yourself $400. It doesn’t really do anything, and I highly doubt you’ll get anything extra or blow a deal on resale, BUT if you like the look of it then get it!

Sam,

My car will be a DD basically. I'm afraid that without it the dash will look a bit empty. Even though I never really used it, I like the look of it on my 997.

Hate the wart. Had it on my 997S but not my 997 GT3. It's useless but if you like the look, then roll with it.

Equating fiat shields with the wart is silly. Wart was pretty much universally hated among 997 buyers back in the day; shields appeal to the brand ***** fcar owners, a necessary tattoo. I know, I was in both camps.

You get two keys for your $335 when ordered as an option on the car but still, much cheaper to buy after the fact. Thanks for the info, Sam. In a weak moment I could see myself blowing $129 on a red key fob.....

For only $400, I would get it. I got it because I have it in my 2007 Turbo and I'm just use to something being up there. Not necessarily that I actually use it though. Just thought it would look off without it.
