My friend in the GT3 program confirms that if you order SAT radio in a GT3, the antenna is on the roof as per the pic of the blue car above.

I think a few folks missed my earlier note. I had the following two exchanges with Melissa Witek at Porsche Exclusive back in August. The chip antenna on the roof is only for XM and it only gets added if you spec the XM option. Regardless of how I feel about satellite radio (kind of like the idea) I will not polute the roof line of my GT3 with a satellite antenna.

This is one thing that Chevrolet fixed on the C6 Corvette, in 2005 it was roof mounted, in 2006 they moved the satellite radio antenna from the roof to inside the driver's side mirror.

Hi Ryan,

That is only for the SiriusXM option. But on the new 911's, the XM "bump" is located below the glass and right above the air outlets,

I will email production and confirm where it will be located for the GT3.

Stay tuned....

Melissa

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for your patience on this. I finally got an answer for you. The XM receiver is located on top of the roof for the production GT3's. And it's only mounted there if you order the SiriusXM option. Therefore, orderering the PCM/phone module/Sound Pkg Plus options will not require that piece to be mounted on the car.

Hope this helps,
Melissa

Any downside at getting the Nav (0 dollar) option?

The "$0" NAV option requires that you spend $700 for the Sound Plus audio package. Other than that can't think of or even imagine any downside. $700 for NAV, better audio, and increased PCM functionality is a rare Porsche bargain, IMO.

+1 to all points. I love the free options you get with the GT3.
