I believe you need the phone prep selected though. It's a no cost option.

Any one have any info on the voice control option? I'm interested since it allows for verbal inputs to the GPS.

On the Turbo at least, the satellite antenna is now below the rear glass near the vent. They may have moved it down there on the GT3 as well.

I had Porsche Exclusive check with production and they said it was on the roof.

+1 exactly. I got sat radio for my Porsche 5 years ago. But sat radio is fast becoming obsolete, particularly now that you can wirelessly stream pandora to PCM from your smartphone.

Bonus also that you don't have to pay the $700 or have the wart on the top of your roof which I agree ruins the lines of the car.

However, in contrast, I think the sports chrono clock adds to the racing look of the interior of the car, so I ordered it although I may never use it.

Specifically, that is a picture of a 991 GT3 development mule.

I've looked at other snaps of production cars, and can't find one with a wart on the roof. That doesn't mean anything either way, of course.

That blue car is actually a pre-production car not a more generic mule so it's pretty much in final form. I'd be surprised if the antenna location is changed for production, but I suppose anything is possible. My friend is responsible for specing those vehicles for the GT3 development program. I'll try to get in touch with him.....

I suspect that "wart" on the roof is a GPS antenna - so if you have GPS Navigation you have the "wart"
I would also guess the GT3 Radio antenna is in the windshield glass as it is in other Porsches.

We're talking satellite radio, not terrestrial.

My 997.2 Carrera had GPS NAV but no roof wart; same with my Cayenne. OTOH, our Audi has SAT radio, and it does have a roof wart. Pretty sure the wart is the SAT radio antenna....

My SA talked me out of ordering it on my Boxster S - "doesn't work well". When the guy from Sonnen Porsche posted the almost $150K C4S that had virtually every option EXCEPT voice control, I asked why not. Same answer. Shocking when the Koreans can make theirs work when the whole car costs less the the average options page on most Porsches. Maybe next year they can reverse engineer a Hyundai Sonata.
I can't see how SAT radio can survive much longer. On our 4 vehicles, only my Tundra still has it working because I forgot to cancel before the automatic renewal. Wont forget next time. I don't listen to Oprah, Howard or sports and find the iPod connects pretty well to the 981S via the PCM. They need to drastically lower their pricing if they have any chance of surviving, as far as I'm concerned.
