Which brake pads for track use?
 

Hi all:

Has anyone an idea yet which brake pads could/should be used for track usage?

I recall that the OEM pads on my 997.2GT3RS have not been up to the task and that I used Pagid RS29 (yellow) instead which I more or less liked.

So question is, if already other brake pads are on the market yet for the 991GT3 or if the OEM pads will take the beating from track usage which I doubt? Are possibly any other pads than Pagid an option?

I know it is a bit early in the life cycle to real have experience with OEM parts but I guess that they will be again more suited for street than track.
Any help/idea/recommendation welcome (even so my car will not be ready before early April 2014 :mad:).

Don't know that you can do much better than RS29. I have always thought those were great, but pricey.

You can count on Pagid and Performance Friction eventually having pads available for the 991 GT3. We've already received them for the other 991 cars, also for the 981.

Pagid already has part numbers for the 991 GT3 for both ceramic and steel brakes.

U4927 front and U4925 rear for the ceramic cars

U4924 front and U4925 rear for steel

These numbers denote the shape

I've run the Pagid RS29 on my 991 C2S for just over 20 track days, and they're just fantastic on the car. I'm planning on continuing to run them on my GT3 when it arrives.

I assume the RS29 pads are only compatible with the standard rotors (not the the optional PCCB) on the 991 GT3, correct?

Correct. Pagid makes a competition pad specifically for use with Ceramic Rotors.

We have them all in - even the ceramic :-)

Endless pads, Endless fluid. Hands down, the best I've ever used. I ran Pagid for a few seasons. They always gave up at half life. Not so with the Endless. Well worth the extra $$$.

I agree with Pagids giving up at half life.

The new GT3 used PFC brakes so why not use the PFC 08 track pads that worked perfectly on the 997? Or even the new PFC compounds.

what have you guys found the pagids do at half life? I'm guessing they deteriorate much more quickly once you hit half the material?

I thought this was common with a lot of pads due to less mass = less heat capacity in the pad itself.

Loved PFCs on my bmw but only used them once.

PF 08 and 06 have worked well for me, including for street use.
