Default 991 GT3 MPG

15 City / 20 Highway per Porsche website.

Surprised they couldn't better the prior gen's numbers (15/22) given new motor and PDK.

Those are estimates. The magazines all saw higher.

Porsche doesn't tend to post numbers on their website without doing their homework but time will tell.

Thanks for the great info. To be honest, I never even looked at what the MPG was. I conclude that this information will fall into my "I don't give a ****" bucket.

You mean like their posted performance and HP numbers?

GT3 has a gas guzzler tax of $1000......sounds like these estimates are accurate.....

Yup, I get it. A lot of new buyers don't have the tolerance to scratch below the surface.

Still interesting to me from an engineering standpoint. Different final drive ratios explain part of it but still would've expected less of a gap if not an improvement given the advances in engine design beyond the obvious DFI fuel saving advantages.

Meh. Old news. We discussed this weeks ago in the gas guzzler tax thread. Not buying this car for daily drive economy runs; that's what the TDI is for.....

4500 -5000 units made globally. I'll be surprised if 1 order was cancelled due to MPG.

I get it Nizer, you dislike the car and see folly in PAGs statement that direct injection is used, in part, for economy and lowered emissions.

By new buyers do you mean new to Porsche, new to GT3s in general, or new to the 991 GT3?

Although not by enough to really matter, they did better the numbers of my 2010 GT3, which had city/highway estimates of 14/21. It also had a gas guzzler tax of $1300.

I don't dislike the car. I dislike the fact that there's no manual option, that the drivetrain is not based on a motorsport platform (at least not yet), and that they didn't focus more on weight over added tech. There's a difference.

I'm still hopeful they'll address some or all of these issues in the future.

As for the PAG's follies, I hadn't actually seen that statement so interesting observation on your part.

Nizer. You still around here slinging sh*t on the new GT3 every opportunity? Ive seen your posts on the 997 GT3 board - hats off to you you are a one man army LOL!

So we are down to discussing fuel economy now? Nice!

If I told you that there is strong rumor emanating from AP's office that the 991 GT3/RS will be the only generation of 991 GT3/RS and possibly the last "GT3" the factory will produce do you think this may mean one will appear on your list of owned cars? This is what we are hearing at the factory that there will be no more GT3 as we know it (maybe hybrid or 960 or a different product with different name). Interesting aye.

Good news is cars are now shipping from the factory and we will know if its rubbish soon. Infact Ill tel you myself in 2 weeks time when I pick mine up from the factory.

EVO magazine tested the fuel economy and found it better than the outgoing model at 23.0 vs 22.1 EC mpg for 997.2 GT3 (just copying from the magazine). There are also comments form other magazines saying the fuel economy was an improvement on the outgoing model.

I suspect in the USA they may be making more money off of yo due to fuel tax. Maybe its in their best interest to round down!

Heres from the brochure on the car.

PS. Production estimates still stand at 4000 units including RS but now it is told the GT3 is sold out.

I agree with Nizer, pretty low numbers for a DFI with perfect shifts PDK...my 5.4L AMG V8 had similar numbers...not that it would matter too much for the average GT3 buyer... Being a person interested in technical aspects,I'd be curious to know why the low numbers...especially when the poor old manual transmission is many times blamed to be the cause of low MPG numbers! I've seen an RS 4.0 sticker posted in one of the threads and it came with gas guzzler tax. I don't know about the 997 GT3 and RS...?

Disclaimer : I like the car
