Trucks probably don't leave for the port every day, nor do ships sail every day. If the timing is right, a car might not sit for a week before it heads to port or gets on a boat. My guess is those are worst case scenarios. Also, I don't think travel time from Germany to California will take over a month, and with luck it won't take 2 weeks to clear customs and get from Southern to Northern CA.
If things work out, this all gives rise to hope that a car will arrive sooner than expected.

Mike, I am in the NY Metro area hence the shorter delivery time. Also, as far as how much slack is in the schedule, my dealer tells me that it typically takes 1 month from completion until the car arrives at his lot. This is instead of the 6 weeks that Porsche allows on their schedule for my part of the world, which if this holds true means I could possibly have my car by the end of the year and you could have yours in early to mid-January. As far as the paint shop goes their is no separate listing for it on my tracking list and I was thinking that painting was what they did in the body shop.

So what does this all mean for those who are still on waiting lists? Do all dealers now have firm initial allocations? Will production continue as needed to meet demands, or are they instead limiting production to X number of 2014 cars?
Though I'm still ambivalent about the car (for my use), it would be nice to know that I can actually get one if desired.

Now that this 991 GT3 is about to find its way to people's garages (finally!), it'll be interesting to see how prices of 997 GT3s are affected. If the 991 GT3 lives up to the reviews and track guys praise it, I can see a lot of 997 GT3 owners selling their cars to get it, which should mean prices coming down.

Got confirmation mine will be with me on 17 Jan. Bit of a stripper compared to many around here. Will be a pure track use car just like the current one which will be looking for a new home in a few weeks.
