$1,000 vs $1,700, respectively.

I also notice the gas guzzler tax is included in the retail price of the car from my dealer. And that the sales tax is calculated from this sub-total, which means I'm getting taxed on a tax. Is this normal? Shouldn't sales tax apply to just the price of the car and not be inclusive of any other taxes? Then going forward, each year when I have to pay another tax to renew registration, I will again be paying a tax on the original gas guzzler tax... into perpetuity. Seems like a rip off to me, granted I'm new to this.

$1,700 for the manual was sadly for calendar year 2017.

People closing their sale in 2018 (which is most of us) will see a $1K GGT hike to a total $2,700 for the manual, grrrr. Yet true gas guzzler trucks / SUVs are exempt...

Where did you hear this? Someone here mentioned the same thing before but it was a mistake, by adding the $1000 PDK GGT to the $1700 GGT MT, and saying it would be $2700 for MT in 2018 when it really wasn’t...

FAIK, it’s either $1000 PDK or $1,700 MT. Not both and not $2,700...

Certainly not saying you add the $1000 PDK GGT to the $1,700 MT GGT to get to the $2,700. My dealer confirmed the GGT for the MT has been increased to $2700 from calendary yr 2017 to 2018 ($1K YoY increase, which just coincidentally happens to be total # for the GGT for PDK but you do not add the two).

The configurator does not reflect that, but from all indications MT cars with a sale closed in CY 2018 are charged $2,700 GGT.

Well, I can say good for them (unless the GG tax goes by month of prod vs date of sale, i.e. so a 2017 produced car sold in 2018 is charged a 2017 GGT). As I said, we wrote up the sales contract and all, that was the figure that was included for GGT. Still have months before I collect her so will only know for sure then, but going by what the dealer is saying, and have no reason to doubt them (i.e. this is not a hidden fee they are looking to slap onto the car).

I suppose a quick test would be to see what are the EPA stipulations for 2018 with the gas consumption of the GT3 manual

Not sure about $2,700. None of the lists I found show $2,700 even as an option to pay. Maybe everything I found is old, but in order to get to 2,600 the combined MPG would have to be much worse that the current PDK. I haven't seen a sticker for a manual GT3, but is the combined MPG between 17.5 and 18.5 MPG?

You sure it was not $2750 for gas guzzler tax and delivery? $1700 plus $1050?

Yup, definitely was not bundled with the 1,050 destination fee, listed separately as 2,700 GGT. Trust me, I hope I am wrong but that is what was indicated by the dealer.

From the config, combined is stated at 17mpg, which would put it at the 3K level per table posted by mwar99

Sad state of affairs when there is a multi-page thread on the gas guzzler tax.

On the sticker for my 2018 GT3 MT which I took delivery of earlier this week, MPG was listed as 13 city, 21 highway, 16 combined.

Gas Guzzler Tax was $1,700.

For me, car will be registered in NJ and I was quoted twice for gas guzzler tax:

I just found it weird since I got charged separately with 2 taxes rather than one and I'm hoping MSRP changes to $1000 since I will be getting a PDK.

Did anyone have a similar experience?
