So the safety car I will be driving is an Audi RS5...wow, what a hot rod! Got to take it out in the rain for 5 hot laps at the end of the day today. Discovered it has a TV camera in it, facing...me. So I had better not **** up. Oh, and they want us wearing full Nomex and helmets. Apparently, the WEC race director wants the race cars REALLY warmed up before he goes Green after a full course yellow. So he told me that, on the last lap of a FCY, he wants the safety car driven at 100%. Yee haw!!!

Very nice. Saw you on the track in the Audi. What was it like on that wet track. Hard to believe they actually raced yesterday in that rain. It's amazing they weren't all just spinning out in that cup race at the end of the day. Clear and sunny today and tomorrow! Hope to meet some folks today at Porscheplatz.

Everyone's a critic

The track is very very grippy in the wet. No "wet line" needed at all in most places.

Very grippy may be a bit optimistic of an interpretation based on the conditions on Friday afternoon . We had some standing water in a few places and finished under yellow.

Had a great time all 3 days with my two boys. Saw the RS5 for sure. Also had fun seeing the RS7 medical cars, and became educated that they will now be sold in the U.S....that was news to me. Sweet family car.

Compared to most tracks in the wet, COTA is among the grippiest if not THE grippiest IMO. Standing water is what it is anywhere...

Agreed, it wasn't bad where simply damp or wet. Asphalt was good and you could get away with a touch of apex curbing. Outside painted curbing was particularly treacherous to the touch. We just had a good bit of collected water due to pretty heavy rain. It stormed and ran off and then stormed again mid race so it was never a consistent grip level in most places. The biggest problem was fogging windshields in the corners and side windows.

Yep! And you did very well! Sucks in that traffic jam in pit lane after the race, everyone was hot & cars totally fogging up

Thanks. Second race was tough. I started 10th, moved up to 7th or 8th and got a little too greedy braking in 12 on the very first lap.Next thing I know I'm 32nd or so, as there was no responsible way to get back on track. I worked my *** off for the the next 44 minutes while praying for a yellow. Never got one. I did bang my way up to 14th and had a few interesting battles on my way through the field.
