Larger Tank vs Stock Tank

Larger Tank vs Stock Tank
Which are you guys ordering and why? Added weight to the car itself, without gas? Any drawbacks to the larger tank at all?
I still have time to change my order.

No drawbacks, The tank itself weighs only an extra couple of pounds and does not reduce luggage space. The added range is such a nice plus and if you're really that concerned about weight for the track or autocross, just don't fill it. It's a no brainer; order it.

Agreed, definitely get the larger tank.
FINALLY, something we can all agree on! Other active threads in this forum are getting so contentious. But, maybe I'm speaking too soon and someone will start complaining about the purity of a smaller tank...

Small tank insures against overfilling, cuts weight by 6lbs/gallon; very important for you standings at the HPDE world championships. Every 0.01 seconds counts!

Wish the non GT variant of the 991 could be ordered with the extended gas tank.

I think the 'purity' would be with the larger tank - the one in my 911SC was over 20 gallons, whereas the one in my Spyder was 14 gallons (I believe in an effort to claim lower curb weight figures).

I remember reading or hearing in an interview that is was only about 1 KG or 2.2 lbs. Have read so many articles, no way to recall where and no time to search for it.
But think about it. All of the internals bits, floats, filters, sensors, filler neck, etc will be identical with both tanks. It's just enough extra aluminum tank material to expand the capacity. The weight is inconsequential. There will be a larger difference if you have a big lunch and a beer before you drive the car.....
