Good question, but will they want to rain on the 918's parade?

Agreed.. Think the intakes will stay. They are a diff shape than new turbo and could have metal mesh to match other venting

I'm not sure of the reveal date, but I'd take Frankfurt over Geneva or any other venue for the following reasons as I've mentioned before:
1. Frankfurt is in Germany
2. Ferrari will be showing their extreme 458 variant: 458 S and Porsche can use the RS to counter
3. 50th anniversary of the 911
4. The mules of the RS look essentially production ready
5. All GT3s released in Geneva have had the RS counterparts released either in Frankfurt or Paris of the same year. There is no Paris show this year, leaving Frankfurt as the most likely potential venue

Jon - I agree with you. We all know the 918 is coming and have seen it; Porsche need a "surprise" and this is it - hello 458S, goodbye!

If it is, does this mean order books open?

Erlkonig has this Video labeled as a GT2. The side vents support this as does the smaller wing.
What convinces us it is the GT3RS and not the new GT2?

the rumour that the GT3RS will use the Turbo's widebody, centre pipes and to me it doesn't sound like a turbo motor...

Total 911 magazine also identified this as the GT2 RS mule ... I tend to agree that the center exhaust suggests that it is not a turbo engine, but an NA RS mule.

As for the aero etc, recall that the GT3 mule ran around for months sporting aero that did not make it to production...

I'd say there is a 50/50 this is the RS mule using the TT/S body

I dont see big engine HP jump here - more a taunter slightly lighter and more aggressively sprung/suspension 991 GT3.

Once this thing is reviewed on track there will be no going back to MT.
+1, and unless I am not mistaken, look at the center muffler, looks a lot like the Ti one from the previous RS does it not?

I agree, I find it hard to believe that this is the final aero pkg though, given that every other RS has distinguished itself via a larger rear CF wing ...

totally PDK-S as well, unless the Stig's German cousin is able to shift the manual in 100ms ...

Maybe both to the engine and brakes reducing drag and created better ram effect? It would indicate e little more power.
definitely see engine and brake cooling (are the similar vents on the TT/S "real", i.e what is their function on the tt's?) cant imagine that they would contribute to engine intake ... think how much they would have to change to route air from those to the "traditional" rear-center mounted airbox that mates with the decklid and ram-air intake?

Good point, maybe they can use that air for engine compartment, brake and RWS cooling.
Maybe that would allow more air to go into the engine?

If they are functional (I dont know if they are on the new TT/S or not?) I would imagine its for engine compartment cooling (and maybe brakes also) AFIAK it would be a bad idea (and as such none of the engines do this) to ingest engine compartment air into the engine (because its hot, and could contain additional contaminants over and above the outside air) which is why the air is drawn from the rear decklid into the air box, and a seal is maintained between the two...

We'd have to see a TT/S in real life to figure out what those vents do on that car to speculate on their purpose on the RS ...

Right, I meant that all the air going into the top scoop goes into the air intake and the side scoops are for other cooling stuff, like maybe the diff etc.
