If you want your car loaded, he might be right, though hopefully not too many people will be specing loaded GT3s. No doubt in most people's mind that the TTS is faster on equal tires.

We have a few data points for 4.0RS now with air con and sat nav at between 1430-1435 kg with full tank. Front lift heavier...

I believe Tomo Kluck did it once. Most runs have been below 7:30 but above 7:25. The TTS time is 7:24.

Not that 2 seconds really matters that much one way or the other, but for weeks the Ring number being given to journo's by Porsche has been 7:25. Now all of a sudden it's "apparently" been changed to 7:27, a number I haven't seen mentioned anywhere except in this thread. Very curious.

I guess we'll need independent testing to confirm one way or the other.....

They should test them all at Sebring in the summer.
It's where they test for Lemans, good enough for me.

I figure we can clock 8 hours or 800 miles a day.
In 20 days we should know...Winterfest, 48 hours and a couple of Chin and David Murry days and you're there.

We know the 997 held up, no problem.

Mike, take it to the bank. It is what it is.

No big deal. The Gt3 still beats most much more expensive cars. Porsche is propping up the 991TTS with its ridiculous price tag.

BTW, AMS test results tomorrow. OOps just got the test results from AMS.

0-100 km/h = 3.6s

0-200 km/h = 12.1s

315 km/h

400m = 11.6s (197 km/h)

Factory state time for 0-200 was 11.4. So we have our first conflict between what Porsche is saying and what outside test are showing.

@Nick --That's considerably slower...isn't Porsche usually very conservative in terms of stated performance figures?

So they tell us. Maybe AP with his concern about the lack of MT is pushing unrealistic performance numbers.

Yup. Times are said to be with 2 people in the car..apparently that is part of their testing procedure.

OK. Theres your deficit for AMS vs Factory.

Add 100kg ballast to the car with passenger and timing gear and you would see 0.1 slower to 100. You would also see 0.3 to 200 difference.

Looks about right for real world numbers.

That is what I understand and would explain the difference. What I don't understand why AMS would handicap the car if they were determining whether factory numbers are accurate. Surely they knew that Porsche numbers were based on one driver and a light one at that.

Nick. Im sure they do but if thats there policy to have two in the car one to operate the gear or something then I guess at least all their metrics are consistent between cars and manufacturers.

I know from the track that 120kg deficit in my 993 saves ~1 second a lap on a 2.5km track. Weight is a compounding issue by 0-200kmph.

To me even without the issue of 100kg+ of additional ballast those figures are fairly close to print if you accept that humidity, temperature and surface could all have a bearing on a run even with the same car and driver on the same course on the same day/week/month. We are talking a tenth of a second to 100km/62 mph here.
